Can you hire a bodyguard in Dallas?

Yes, and Texas is the one American state whose licensing system has a category written specifically for it: the Personal Protection Officer. Algoz arranges a Texas DPS-licensed close protection officer who meets you inside DFW or on the ramp at Love Field or Addison, a security driver who knows that the metroplex is two cities and a dozen suburbs strung along tollways, and the same team stays with you through the hotel, the meetings Downtown and on the corporate campuses to the north, the stadium and the evening. Send your dates and your hotel and a confidential proposal follows within 24 hours, with the officer profile and the final rate, and no obligation attached.

Straight Answers

What people ask before enquiring.

Legality

Is it legal?

Yes. Private security in Texas is regulated by the Department of Public Safety’s Private Security Program: companies are licensed, officers hold a Level II non-commissioned or Level III commissioned licence, and bodyguards hold the Level IV Personal Protection Officer licence. Algoz coordinates only within that framework.

Cost

What it costs

Priced to the profile and the itinerary. Dallas is a corporate market first, and most briefs are met by one officer and a security driver held for the day; the State Fair weeks and the stadium weekends carry a premium. The final rate comes with the proposal; an idea of day rates is in the FAQ below.

Speed

How fast

Plan on seven days. Vetting the brief, releasing the right officer and completing the advance work takes that long. Under 48 hours means additional fees and no guarantee of cover. Armed authorisation needs a minimum 30-day lead.

Weapons

Armed or unarmed

Both are lawful in Texas: a Level III commissioned officer or a Level IV Personal Protection Officer may work armed. Texas is the state where armed cover is most routinely available and most routinely unnecessary; most Dallas details run unarmed, and armed officers are arranged on assessment with a 30-day lead.

Coverage

Where we cover

Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow, Turtle Creek, Uptown and Downtown first. Then Las Colinas, Plano, Frisco and Southlake, Fort Worth and Arlington, and by road Austin, Houston and the ranch country, with the same contact and the same brief.

Language

Who you get

Vetted Texas officers, many from the military, the Dallas Police Department, federal law enforcement and corporate executive protection, working in English and Spanish. Coordination in Arabic, Portuguese, Chinese, French and Russian is available, and the written day plan comes in your language on request.

The Metroplex

A corporate capital built on tollways, with its money behind the hedges of the Park Cities.

Dallas and Fort Worth together are the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States and one of its fastest-growing corporate capitals: the headquarters that have moved to the northern suburbs of Plano, Frisco and Irving, the banks, funds and family offices of Uptown and Downtown, the private equity and energy money that has made Dallas a financial centre in its own right, and a convention and sporting calendar that fills the arenas and the stadium in Arlington. It is also a city of old Texas wealth that lives quietly: the Park Cities, Highland Park and University Park, with their own police and their own rules; Preston Hollow, where the largest estates in Texas sit behind walls; Turtle Creek and the Rosewood Mansion for the hotels; and Highland Park Village and NorthPark for the stores. The risks a visitor meets are the American ones with a Texas scale: follow-home robberies that have targeted Asian and Latin American families from the jewellers and the restaurants to their driveways, carjackings and road-rage incidents on the freeways, the nightlife corridor of Deep Ellum where shootings are documented, and the storms, from ice in winter to tornado season in spring, that stop a metroplex built entirely for the car.

Algoz coordinates bodyguard services in Dallas through vetted, Texas-licensed operators with genuine local knowledge: officers who know how Highland Park’s own police prefer a private detail to work, which tollway is the plan at five in the afternoon and which is the trap, how the State Fair closes Fair Park’s approaches for three weeks every autumn, and what a Cowboys Sunday does to the roads around Arlington. Our clients are executives and delegations from the Gulf, Latin America, Asia and Europe at the headquarters and the funds, families in residence in the Park Cities or Preston Hollow for a posting or a season, patients at UT Southwestern and the Medical District, consular and ministerial parties, and the assistants and family offices who book for all of them. The brief is given once; from the aircraft steps to the last dinner, one team plans, drives and covers it.

The Security Environment

Why hire a bodyguard in Dallas?

Pattern

Follow-Home Robbery

Crews mark a watch, jewellery or a vehicle at a jeweller, a restaurant or a mall and follow the target to a hotel or a house, and Asian and Latin American families in the northern suburbs have been targeted specifically. It is the documented North Texas pattern and the one a professional detail is built to break.

Roads

Freeways, Carjacking & Road Rage

Dallas is driven, not walked, and the freeways and the tollways are where carjacking, road-rage shootings and crashes happen. A security driver who never idles where he should not, reads the traffic and holds the vehicle as cover is the centre of a Dallas detail, not an addition to it.

Nightlife

Deep Ellum & the Late Evening

The nightlife corridors of Deep Ellum and parts of Downtown carry the city’s documented share of shootings and confrontations after midnight. Most evenings are harmless; the unpredictable ones are what a calm, trained presence and a positioned vehicle are for.

Profile

Visible Wealth

Highland Park Village, NorthPark and the jewellers of the Park Cities are where serious pieces are bought and worn, and the Mansion, the Crescent and the restaurants of Uptown are where a recognisable face is read at a glance. The walk to the car across a Texas parking lot is where it matters.

Season

The State Fair & the Stadium Weekends

The State Fair of Texas fills Fair Park for three weeks every autumn, the Cowboys fill Arlington on Sundays, the arena fills for the Mavericks, the Stars and the concerts, and the convention weeks fill Downtown. Each closes roads and releases tens of thousands of people onto the same freeways at once.

Weather

Ice, Storms & Tornado Season

A winter ice storm stops a metroplex built for the car within hours, spring brings tornado warnings and hail, and summer heat makes a waiting vehicle a cooled vehicle. Weather is a route factor here, and a plan exists before the forecast needs it.

01 —

Highland Park, Preston Hollow & the Park Cities

Dallas keeps its wealth in two places. The Park Cities, Highland Park and University Park, are separate municipalities inside the city, with their own police, their own rules and streets where an unfamiliar vehicle idling for twenty minutes is noticed and reported. Preston Hollow, north of them, holds the largest estates in Texas behind walls and long drives, and Southlake, Westlake and the horse country to the north-west hold the newer compounds. Families in residence for a posting or a season, executives who prefer to sleep in the Park Cities rather than Downtown, patients at UT Southwestern with a family in the city for weeks, and Gulf, Latin American and Asian families who have made Dallas a second home base themselves here, and the brief changes with them: the school run to the private schools, the drive down the tollway each morning, the afternoon at Highland Park Village, the weekend at the ranch, and a residence where seclusion is the point and seclusion is the vulnerability, with the follow-home pattern that has targeted exactly these neighbourhoods. Residence work here is advance work: access, lighting and camera lines reviewed, the household and the Park Cities police briefed where appropriate, deliveries controlled, and an officer present in a way that neighbours and guests never register.

02 —

DFW, Love Field, Addison & the private terminals

Dallas Fort Worth International is one of the largest airports in the world, with nonstop flights from the Gulf, Latin America, Europe and Asia, and it sits between the two cities rather than in either; its terminals are separate buildings linked by a train, and meeting at the wrong one is the most common opening mistake in the metroplex. We plan the arrival out of existence: the inbound tracked live, the terminal confirmed, a meet inside the building at the point you choose, luggage handled and counted, and a vehicle staged so the walk is seconds, with the run to the Park Cities, Uptown or the northern suburbs chosen for the hour. Love Field sits ten minutes from Highland Park and is both the domestic airport most executives actually use and the heart of Dallas business aviation, with FBOs that put a principal in Turtle Creek before a DFW arrival has reached the curb. Addison to the north serves Plano, Frisco and the corporate belt, Dallas Executive the south, and Fort Worth has its own fields at Alliance and Meacham. Each has its own handling agents and its own view on how close a vehicle may come to an aircraft, and our coordinator speaks to your handler directly rather than through you. See executive transportation.

03 —

Uptown, Downtown & the corporate campuses to the north

Business Dallas is spread across the metroplex, and the shape of it has changed in a decade. Downtown and Uptown hold the banks, the funds, the law firms and the hotels where visiting executives actually stay, within a few minutes of one another along Turtle Creek and McKinney Avenue. Las Colinas in Irving, Plano’s Legacy district and Frisco to the north hold the headquarters that have moved to Texas, in campuses the size of small towns, twenty to thirty miles up the tollway from the Mansion. Fort Worth, half an hour west, holds its own corporate and energy establishment and the Stockyards. A day that touches three of them is common and is never a straight line. Protective work here is measured in discretion rather than presence: an officer who reads as staff in a lobby, credentials and campus gate access arranged before the day begins, a security driver who turns the tollway legs into working time, and device and conversation discipline treated as part of the detail, because in a transaction week at a fund or a headquarters the itinerary itself is sensitive. For a ministerial or sovereign delegation from the Gulf, Latin America or Asia, the vehicles, the officers and the hotel floor are planned as one programme rather than booked as a stack.

04 —

Highland Park Village, NorthPark & the follow-home

Highland Park Village, the oldest planned shopping centre in America and now one of its most expensive, NorthPark Center and the jewellers of the Park Cities are where Dallas’s visible wealth is bought and worn, and where the documented follow-home robberies in North Texas have begun: a watch or a bag marked at a counter or a restaurant table, the target followed across a parking lot to a vehicle, and the vehicle followed to a hotel or a Preston Hollow driveway. The pattern has targeted Asian and Latin American families in the northern suburbs with particular persistence. A shopping afternoon here is handled the way we handle Rodeo Drive or Bal Harbour: private appointments so pieces are viewed in a salon rather than at a counter, the vehicle positioned at the right entrance, purchases carried by the team rather than the principal, the walk across the lot reduced to a few observed metres, and the drive afterwards planned with the same care as the arrival, with the officer watching the mirrors as much as the road. The same discipline follows dinner at the Mansion or in Uptown: a short, observed walk from the restaurant door to a waiting car.

05 —

The State Fair, the stadium in Arlington & the arena nights

Dallas has a calendar that fills the same roads with the same crowds every year. The State Fair of Texas takes Fair Park for three weeks from late September, with the college football weekend in the middle of it, and closes the approaches east of Downtown for the duration. The Cowboys fill the stadium in Arlington on Sundays, with the championship nights, the college games and the concerts between them, and the thirty-minute drive from the Park Cities becomes ninety when eighty thousand people leave at once. The arena in Victory Park fills for the Mavericks, the Stars and the touring shows, the golf fills the northern courses in spring, and the galas of the Arts District fill the autumn. For a recognisable guest a suite at the stadium or a courtside seat is the most photographed hour of the trip, and the walk from the seat to the vehicle through that crowd is the moment of the whole evening. We plan these nights backwards from the exit: the arrival window agreed with the venue’s security, the suite and the corridor walked in advance, an officer who reads as part of the party in the seats, and a vehicle held in position before the final whistle rather than sent for afterwards.

06 —

Fort Worth, the ranch country & the weather

The other half of the metroplex is Fort Worth, half an hour west and a different city in temperament: the Stockyards and the cattle money, the museums of the Cultural District, the energy and aviation establishment, and the horse and ranch country that begins at its western edge and runs for hundreds of miles. A Dallas week often includes a day there, or a weekend at a ranch, and the same team and the same brief follow the principal, with the vehicle prepared for distance and the driver hours carrying a rest plan. The other variable is the weather. A winter ice storm stops a metroplex built entirely for the car within hours and closes the tollway bridges; spring brings tornado warnings, hail and the kind of storm that empties a stadium early; and summer heat makes a waiting vehicle a cooled vehicle rather than a parked one. A Dallas detail carries a weather plan the way a Chicago detail carries winter tyres, and when a warning is issued, the plan moves before the roads do.

07 —

How a Dallas detail is actually run

It starts with your itinerary, not with a headcount. We read the dates, the profile, the hotel or the residence, the campuses and the week, then propose the smallest team that genuinely covers it: most often one officer with a security driver held for the day, sometimes a two-officer rotation for a delegation or a stadium night, occasionally a full detail with advance work at every venue and a Houston or Austin leg. Every officer is Texas DPS-licensed, NDA-bound and briefed to the Algoz standard; every hotel, residence and venue is walked before you arrive; the Park Cities police and the venue security are brought into the plan rather than surprised by it; and one Algoz contact stays with the engagement from proposal to the departure flight, so you are never managing an unfamiliar vendor in an unfamiliar metroplex. The proposal, the schedule and the written day plan are provided in Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, French or Russian on request. How close protection works.

08 —

Beyond the metroplex: Houston, Austin & the rest of Texas

A great many Dallas engagements do not stay in Dallas. Houston for the energy headquarters and the Medical Center, Austin for government and technology, San Antonio, the ranch and hunting country between them and the Hill Country at the weekend. Distances that would be flights in Europe are drives here, and road is frequently the better answer: door to door, luggage travelling with you, no terminal and no baggage hall. It also introduces variables a city transfer does not, which is why we plan them properly: driver hours as a legal and practical limit, a rest plan or a second driver for the long day, the vehicle positioned overnight where an early start demands it, and the same Texas licence carrying across the whole state. For itineraries continuing to Houston, Miami, New York or Los Angeles, the handover happens inside Algoz, not on your desk.

Texas Licensing (DPS Private Security)

Why protection in Dallas must be licensed, and why Texas names the bodyguard.

Private security in Texas is regulated under the Occupations Code by the Texas Department of Public Safety through its Private Security Program. A company that provides protective services for hire must hold a licence; individual officers hold a Level II non-commissioned licence for unarmed work or a Level III commissioned licence, after a minimum 45-hour course with a course of fire, for armed work; and a bodyguard holds the Level IV Personal Protection Officer licence, which requires the Level II, III and IV training certificates and a declaration of psychological and emotional health, and is the only licence in the United States written specifically for close protection. The Park Cities layer their own expectations on top through their own police. Texas permits armed private protection where those conditions are met, which makes it the state where armed cover is most routinely available and, in our experience, most routinely unnecessary. An unlicensed individual cannot lawfully provide protective services for hire in Texas, and a bodyguard brought from the Gulf, Latin America or Asia cannot simply work here; engaging outside the licensed framework exposes a principal to legal risk and voids meaningful liability cover.

Algoz coordinates protection in Dallas exclusively through this licensed framework, with every operative vetted, NDA-bound and discreet. See how our close protection works, read the state-by-state guide to protection in the USA, combine it with VIP concierge across the United States, add secure transport, or extend to Houston and Miami.

When to Hire

The moments that specifically call for protection in Dallas.

The State Fair weeks from late September are the obvious ones, with the college football weekend in the middle and the approaches east of Downtown closed for the duration. A Cowboys Sunday, a championship night in Arlington and the arena nights each release tens of thousands of people onto the same freeways at once. A transaction week at a fund, a headquarters or a family office is the quiet category, where confidentiality matters more than presence and the detail works in the background. A delegation week from the Gulf, Latin America or Asia at the corporate campuses is the Dallas version of it.

The Highland Park Village afternoon, where the follow-home begins; the late drive on the tollways and out of Deep Ellum; an ice storm in winter or a tornado warning in spring; residential stays in the Park Cities and Preston Hollow; hospital stays at UT Southwestern; school terms at SMU and the private schools; and the arrival at DFW after a long flight round out the moments where even a short stay benefits from an officer and a security driver. And for families, the practical value is simple: the children see the stadium and the Fair while someone else watches everything approaching them.

What a bodyguard in Dallas costs.

As a guide, professional close protection in the United States is, in 2026, from USD 900 per day for a single principal on twelve-hour cover, the market base, with the final rate shaped by the profile, the threat picture and the season, and confirmed on enquiry with no obligation. Armed profiles, Personal Protection Officers for a documented threat, specialist officers, short-notice mobilisation, the State Fair weeks and the stadium weekends carry a premium. A security driver with an executive vehicle is quoted separately and, in a metroplex measured in tollway miles, is not an addition to a Dallas detail but the centre of it; team details and multi-city programmes are quoted above the base, to the brief. Payment is by card or bank transfer in USD, EUR, GBP or AED.

Good to Know

Bodyguard in Dallas - Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a bodyguard in Dallas cost?

As a guide, professional close protection in the United States starts from USD 900 per day for one officer covering a single principal on twelve hours, with the final rate shaped by the profile, the season and the brief. A security driver with an executive vehicle is quoted separately and, in a metroplex measured in tollway miles, is the centre of a Dallas detail rather than an addition to it. Armed profiles, Personal Protection Officers for a documented threat, short-notice mobilisation, the State Fair weeks and the stadium weekends carry a premium. Multi-city itineraries are quoted as one programme, and the final rate is always confirmed on enquiry, with no obligation. Payment is by card or bank transfer.

Why use Algoz rather than hiring a local security company in Dallas directly?

Texas has one of the largest licensed security industries in America, built mostly for static guarding, corporate campuses, retail and events, and only a handful of its companies do genuine close protection to an international standard with the discretion a visiting family or a sovereign delegation expects. From Riyadh, Doha, Mexico City, São Paulo or Mumbai they all look the same, and the difference only shows once a detail is moving between DFW, a Preston Hollow estate, a Plano campus and the stadium in Arlington on a Sunday. Algoz has already made the comparison, keeps only the Texas providers that met our standard on live assignments, composes the team for your profile, puts it under NDA, supervises it against our own doctrine and answers to you as a single point of accountability, in your language.

Is it legal to hire a bodyguard in Dallas, and is it licensed?

Yes. Private security in Texas is regulated by the Department of Public Safety’s Private Security Program: companies hold a licence, officers hold a Level II non-commissioned or Level III commissioned licence, and bodyguards hold the Level IV Personal Protection Officer licence, the only licence in the United States written specifically for close protection. Algoz coordinates only properly licensed operators, so your detail is fully compliant.

Can protection be armed in Dallas?

It can. A Level III commissioned security officer or a Level IV Personal Protection Officer may work armed in Texas, which makes it the state where armed cover is most routinely available. It is arranged in advance on assessment, with a minimum 30-day lead time and no guarantee, and in our experience it is most routinely unnecessary: most Dallas assignments are handled unarmed, built on planning, a skilled driver and a discreet presence. We will tell you honestly which your itinerary actually requires.

Do you work with clients from the Gulf, Latin America and Asia?

Yes, every week. Dallas draws executives, delegations and families from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to its corporate headquarters, funds and hospitals, from Mexico, Brazil and across Latin America to its businesses and its stadium, and from India, China, Korea and Japan to the technology and manufacturing campuses of the northern suburbs. Enquiries, proposals, the schedule and the written day plan are handled in Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese or French on request. Officers work in English and Spanish; officers in other languages can be requested with notice, though we never guarantee one.

Is a security driver included?

Usually, yes, and in Dallas more than almost anywhere. The metroplex is two cities and a dozen suburbs strung along tollways, DFW sits between them rather than in either, the corporate campuses are twenty to thirty miles up the road from the hotels, and the freeways are where carjacking and road-rage incidents happen. A security-trained driver is planned alongside the officer, the vehicle is held for the day rather than summoned for each leg, and the drive back from Highland Park Village, the stadium or a restaurant receives particular attention, because that is the window the follow-home exploits.

Is Dallas safe for wealthy visitors?

Dallas is a safe city for visitors who are looked after, and violent crime against foreign visitors is rare. The real risks are the documented ones: follow-home robberies that have targeted Asian and Latin American families from the jewellers, the malls and the restaurants to their driveways, carjacking and road-rage incidents on the freeways, the shootings and confrontations of the Deep Ellum nightlife corridor after midnight, burglary at secluded estates and short-let houses, and a weather environment, from ice storms to tornado season, that belongs in a plan. For a wealthy visitor, private protection adds the layer that the police are not designed to provide: someone close, watching the approaches, and managing the movement across a metroplex measured in miles.

How quickly can you mobilise in Dallas?

Seven days is the minimum we ask for, and more is better. Inside that week the brief is vetted, the right officer is assigned and released from other work, and the advance work on the hotel, the residence, the venues and the routes is done properly. We will always look at shorter notice, but under 48 hours is an urgency case: it carries additional fees and it cannot be guaranteed. Nobody produces a licensed officer in 24 hours. Around the State Fair, the championship nights in Arlington and the major conventions we advise booking well ahead, and armed protection always requires the 30-day authorisation lead.

Do you handle arrivals at DFW, Love Field and the private terminals?

Yes, and we recommend it. At DFW we track the inbound live, confirm the terminal, meet inside the building, handle and count the luggage and stage a vehicle so the curbside moment barely exists, with the run to the Park Cities or the northern suburbs planned for the hour. Principals arriving by private aircraft use Love Field, ten minutes from Highland Park and the heart of Dallas business aviation, Addison for the northern campuses, Dallas Executive for the south or the Fort Worth fields at Alliance and Meacham; at each the handling agents work the ramp and the aircraft steps are a few metres from the vehicle. Our coordinator speaks to your ground handler directly rather than through you.

Do you provide residence and estate security in Highland Park, Preston Hollow and Southlake?

Yes. Residence work is core to our Dallas coverage: a review of gates, lighting and camera lines, the household briefed and the Park Cities police informed where appropriate, deliveries controlled, and a quiet protective presence from a single overnight to a standing detail. Houses in Highland Park and University Park, estates in Preston Hollow, Southlake and Westlake, suites at the Mansion, the Ritz-Carlton and the Crescent and short-let houses across the northern suburbs are all surveyed before the first night, not after it.

Do you provide protection at the stadium in Arlington, the arena and the State Fair?

Yes. Event work is its own craft: the arrival window agreed with the venue’s security, the suite and the corridor walked in advance, an officer who reads as part of the party in the seats, a departure that begins before the final whistle, and a vehicle held in position before eighty thousand people leave at once. A Cowboys Sunday, a championship night, the arena for the Mavericks, the Stars and the concerts, the State Fair and the galas of the Arts District are all covered under one brief.

Do you provide female officers for families?

Yes. Female close protection officers are available and well suited to family postings, school runs, hospital days, the malls and principals who prefer a female officer in close proximity. Availability is better with notice, so please raise it at the enquiry stage.

Do you cover Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Houston and the rest of Texas?

Yes. The same team and the same point of contact follow the principal to Fort Worth and the Stockyards, to the corporate campuses of Plano, Frisco and Las Colinas, to the ranch country, and by road to Houston, Austin and San Antonio, with driver hours, rest planning and overnight positioning built into the quote and the same Texas licence carrying across the state. For itineraries continuing to Miami, New York, Los Angeles or Mexico City, the transition is managed inside Algoz. Please share the full itinerary when you enquire.

Can the client choose the officer profile?

Often, yes. Given lead time we offer a selection of profiles: a low-visibility officer who reads as staff in an Uptown lobby, a female officer for family cover, a Personal Protection Officer for a documented threat, a driver-protector combination for the tollway miles, or, with notice, an officer who speaks Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese. Whatever the preference, the security assessment carries final authority over the composition of the detail.
