Who actually shoots
Established professionals with a body of work in the exact discipline you need. We match the photographer to the brief and show you the work before anyone is confirmed. If nobody genuinely fits, we say so rather than sending a compromise.
What it costs
Quoted to the brief, never from a menu. The number moves with days and hours, crew size, travel and accommodation, whether film and drone are included, the depth of retouch and the album specification.
How fast
At least seven days, and earlier is better. We will always look at shorter notice, but anything under 48 hours is an urgency case: additional fees, and never a guarantee. Named photographers for peak Italian wedding dates are a different clock: those calendars close far earlier, so an early enquiry buys choice rather than speed.
Confidentiality
Every photographer, second shooter, assistant, videographer and editor signs confidentiality terms before the commission is described. Nothing is submitted to competitions, published or posted without written permission.

Anyone searching for a luxury event photographer or a wedding photographer in Italy ends up doing the work alone: forty tabs of portfolios, a dozen enquiry forms, four replies, and no way of knowing whether the person whose work you admired will actually be holding the camera. The portfolio is the easy part. The fit is the hard part, and the fit is what we sell.
Algoz is a curation and coordination house. We hold working relationships with photographers, cinematographers and drone operators across our regions, we know which of them thrives at a thousand-guest gala and which should never be sent to one, and we know who has already worked the specific villa, palazzo, hotel or coastline in your brief. When the commission is confirmed we hold the production together: timings, crew list, permissions, delivery and the single contact you speak to.
The second reason clients come to us is less common. Algoz is a protection house first, and we photograph people who cannot be photographed carelessly. That changes how the work is contracted, how the material moves, and who is ever told whose face is on the cards.
Six disciplines, one production layer.
Most commissions combine two or three of these. A wedding is stills, film and often a drone. A brand event is coverage plus portraits plus a same-night delivery deadline. Booked together they are planned as one production, not three suppliers meeting for the first time on site.
Luxury Event Photography
Galas, private dinners, launches, award evenings, openings and seasonal parties. An event photographer at this level is judged on what the guests do not notice: no flash in a speech, no lens across a table, no request to repeat a toast. Coverage of arrivals, room, detail and people, delivered against your schedule, with a same-night selection where press or internal use calls for one. Celebrity and Public Figure Photography
Photographers trained for discretion rather than merely willing to promise it. They understand where a long lens can reach from, why a hotel corridor is not a private space, and that a card left in a bag overnight is a leak waiting to happen. Weddings and Destination Weddings
From an intimate ceremony to a three-day production across two provinces. We place photographers who have shot the region and, where possible, the venue: they know when the light leaves a Como terrace, how a Tuscan courtyard behaves at seven in the evening, and where to stand in a baroque church without being asked to move. Fine Portraits, Personal to Corporate
Private photoshoots, maternity and newborn work, family portraits made once a year and kept for fifty, and corporate portraiture that has to survive a board page, a small crop and a magazine profile without being reshot. Sessions run in a studio, at a residence or on location, directed by someone who can settle a person who dislikes cameras within ten minutes.
Videography and Drone Filming
Film alongside stills: multi-camera event coverage, wedding features and highlight edits, brand and interview pieces, and aerial work for landscape, architecture and arrivals. Drone flying is arranged through licensed operators and permits are applied for country by country. Rules differ by state and by site, so we confirm what is genuinely permitted at your location before it enters a plan.
Editing, Retouch and Delivery
The commission does not end when the last car leaves. Selection, editing, retouch and colour are done by the people who shot the work or by editors briefed by them, so the set looks like one hand. Then albums, fine prints, framing, film edits, written licensing terms, and delivery through a channel you control rather than a public link.

Italy hosts more destination weddings than any other country in Europe, and the settings that make it desirable are the same ones that punish a photographer who has not worked them: a lake shore that turns to silver at the wrong hour, a frescoed hall lit at candle level, a cliff terrace with a sun that sets behind the ceremony rather than in front of it, a church with a written rule about where a camera may stand.

Lake Como and the Northern Lakes
Como is the most requested wedding shoreline in Italy and the least forgiving to photograph. The villas face the water, so the good light arrives from across the lake and leaves early behind the mountains. Half the day happens on a boat, where a photographer is either steady on a moving deck or useless. The towns are joined by one narrow road and a ferry timetable, so a crew that has not worked here misses a crossing and with it the only shot that mattered.
We place photographers who know the shoreline by hour: when Bellagio faces the sun, when the western shore falls into shadow, which jetty gives an arrival worth framing and which one gives a wall. Rome gives a photographer a living capital and takes away control of it. Panoramic villas on the Janiculum and Monte Mario deliver the city as a backdrop, but a Roman street is never yours: restricted traffic zones govern which car reaches which door, and a religious ceremony brings its own rules about where a camera may stand and whether it may make a sound. We place photographers who have already been told no by that sacristan and know how to work within the answer.
Tuscany and Umbria are the opposite temperament. Wine estates, restored farmhouses and hill towns around Siena, Florence and the Val d’Orcia give space, shade and a three-day rhythm, and the light does much of the work for a photographer patient enough to wait for it. The Amalfi Coast trades space for drama and hands the photographer a hard sequence of problems: cliff terraces above Positano and Ravello with no room to step back, a single coastal road that seizes up in season, and a sun that goes behind the ridge long before it goes down. Coverage here is planned around the water rather than the road, because boat transfers from Naples, Sorrento and Capri are faster, more private and far better to photograph.

Sicily has become the serious alternative for people who want Italy without the crowd: the baroque courtyards of the Val di Noto, the terraces of Taormina, Palermo palazzi and the volcanic light of the Aeolian islands. It is quieter, it runs later in the season, and it is genuinely harder to photograph from outside a property, which is exactly why private clients choose it. Venice is a permissions city as much as a photographic one, and the water dictates the schedule. Portofino gives a small harbour with an unforgiving crowd and a short window of good light. Photographers Who Work Inside a Protection Detail
This is the part nobody else offers, because most photography houses have never had to. When a client is protected, the camera becomes part of the security problem: it records faces, routes, rooms, vehicles and timings, and stores all of it on cards that travel in a bag through an airport. A crew that has not been briefed will post a location the same evening and undo months of planning in one caption.
Our crews are briefed the way the rest of the detail is briefed. Confidentiality terms are signed before the subject is named. Cards are handled under a chain-of-custody rule, kept with the crew rather than left in a room, and handed over on a schedule. Delivery goes through a controlled channel to the people you name, not a gallery link that can be forwarded. Nothing is published or entered into competitions without written permission, and where the profile requires it the commission is contracted under a booking name. That experience sets the standard a placed photographer is measured against, and makes a shortlist a judgement rather than a list.
In practice, direction means three things. The brief is translated before anyone is approached, so the photographer is chosen against the day you are actually having. The production is held together, so film, drone, stills and post are one plan rather than four calendars. And the finished set is reviewed before it reaches you.

The crew works to the same timeline as the rest of the arrangement. Cards are handled under chain of custody, and where protection is present the photographer is briefed as part of the detail.
Post, Delivery and Closure
Selection, editing, retouch and colour, then film edits, albums and prints. Delivery to the people you name through a channel you control. Afterwards the file is closed.
When to book, honestly.
For a peak-season Saturday in Italy, treat the photographer as part of the venue decision rather than a later one. The photographers people want for Lake Como, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast hold one wedding per date, so twelve months out is comfortable and eighteen is not excessive. A short lead time does not lower the quality of a wedding, but it narrows the shortlist, and we would rather say so at the enquiry than at the contract.
Events and brand work run to a different rhythm: four to eight weeks is normal for a gala, a launch or a conference, and shorter is regularly done. Portrait sessions and private photoshoots are usually arranged within two to four weeks. Drone work needs the longest tail, because permits are granted by an authority rather than by us and some sites simply refuse. We ask for at least seven days. That is the honest lead time for vetting the brief, assigning the right officer and doing the advance work. Under 48 hours is an urgency case: additional fees, and no guarantee.

Photography, videography and aerial filming are performed by independent professionals and licensed third-party partners engaged and coordinated by Algoz under confidentiality terms. Drone operations are carried out only by operators holding the required national authorisation, and only where the site owner and the competent aviation authority permit the flight; permits are applied for per country and per location and may be refused or withdrawn at short notice, including for reasons of weather, airspace or public safety. Filming permissions for churches, museums, protected monuments and public spaces remain subject to the rules of the relevant authority or venue.
