Student Protection Abroad
A bodyguard for a student, without the bodyguard.
The hardest brief in protection is the one nobody wants to be seen: a nineteen-year-old at a London university, a fourteen-year-old at a Swiss boarding school, a graduate student in Boston. They need to live a normal life, make friends and be ordinary, and the family at home needs to know that someone capable is close, informed and reachable. Algoz covers both halves with one licensed professional who is introduced as a family friend, a driver, a tutor or nothing at all, and with one contact who reports to the parents.
The work is mostly invisible: the residence is assessed before the lease is signed, the first week is covered properly, the routine is understood, and after that the officer is present only where the risk actually sits, which is arrivals, nights out, travel days and anything that changes. Tell us the city and the dates and we propose the right level, which is often lighter than parents expect.
- One licensed officer, introduced however the student prefers
- Residence and halls checked before a lease is signed
- Cover on arrival week, travel days and nights out, not every lecture
- A single contact who reports to the family, under NDA
- Female officers for daughters, on request
- If we cannot deliver to our standard somewhere, we say so
As much as the situation needs, and no more.
Arrival and set-up
The first ten days: met on arrival, the residence checked, the campus and the city walked, the routes learned, the numbers programmed and a plan written for the family. Then the officer steps back. Most students need exactly this.
Term check-ins
Level A plus a standing arrangement: a trusted driver for nights out, a check-in on an agreed rhythm, cover on travel days, and an officer on call in the city who can be there in the time it takes to cross it.
Standing protection
For a known threat, a public family name or a custody situation: a low-profile officer close to the student through the day, a residence that is actually secured, and a protocol for the moment something changes. Agreed with the student, not imposed on them.
The pieces that make a year abroad safe.
Halls, flats and host families
Locks, entrances, who holds keys, the walk home at night, the neighbours, the building management. Assessed before the lease and fixed where it is weak.
Drivers and travel days
A trusted driver for late nights and for the days the student is a target: arrival, the move between residences, the end of term with a car full of belongings.
Accompanied journeys home
For younger pupils and for routes through hubs that worry parents, a licensed officer travels on the same flight and hands over at the other end to a named adult.
Nights out and events
The honest risk at university is a night out gone wrong. A protocol the student actually accepts: a car that waits, a number that answers, an officer who can collect without a scene.
Privacy and oversharing
Location sharing, tagged venues and a family name on a public profile. A quiet session with the student on what to switch off, in their language, without a lecture.
One contact for the parents
A written plan, agreed check-ins and a single number for the family, in English, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese or Spanish. The student knows what is reported and what is not.
London, Oxford and Cambridge
The United Kingdom receives more international students from the Gulf, Russia and Latin America than almost anywhere else, and London is the city where a family name carries furthest. Officers hold the SIA close protection licence, know the universities and the halls, and understand that the point is for the student to have a normal year. Oxford and Cambridge are covered from London and locally. See close protection in London.
Protection in LondonSwitzerland: boarding schools and universities
The boarding schools around Lake Geneva, Gstaad, Montreux and Zurich educate the children of the wealthiest families on earth, and they run their own security well. Our work sits outside the gate: exeat weekends, transfers to Geneva and Zurich airports, holidays in the Alps and the first days of term, with officers licensed in the canton. See Geneva and Zurich.
Protection in GenevaBoston, New York and the American campus
American campuses are open, large and usually safe, and the risks are the city around them, the late night and the distance from home. Licensed partners in Massachusetts and New York provide drivers, residence checks and low-profile cover for arrivals, move-in weekends and family visits. See New York and services for US clients.
Protection in New YorkBrief, assessment, a plan the student accepts.
The brief, under NDA
The parents tell us the city, the institution, the dates and what worries them. Everything is held under NDA before a name is shared.
The student is in the room
A plan a student rejects is a plan that fails. We speak to them directly, agree what the officer is introduced as and what is reported home.
Residence and routine
The residence is assessed, the routes are walked, the drivers are chosen and the plan is written. The family receives it in one document.
Arrival week
The officer meets the flight, covers the first days properly and steps back once the routine holds. Most of the value is created here.
The term
Check-ins on the agreed rhythm, cover on travel days and nights out, and an officer on call in the city. Nothing visible on campus.
When something changes
A new relationship, a lost phone, a threatening message, a family event in the news. One call, and the level moves up for as long as it needs to.
“A student should remember the year, not the security. The best cover is the friend who always had a car.”
What student protection costs.
Arrival and set-up is quoted as a short assignment: a licensed close protection officer is from EUR 850 per day in Europe, the market base, and from USD 900 per day in the United States, for twelve-hour cover, plus the driver where one is held. Term check-ins and on-call cover are quoted as a monthly arrangement against the rhythm the family wants, and it is far less than a full-time officer because the officer is not there full time.
Standing protection for a known threat is quoted on the facts, after an assessment. Accompanied flights are quoted per journey, with the officer's travel at cost. You receive one figure before you commit, with no obligation, and we will tell you when a lower level is the honest answer.
Tell us the city and the term dates.
Share the institution, the dates and what worries you. We reply with a plan for the student and a figure for the family, under NDA from the first message.
Enquire WhatsAppThe situations parents ask us about most.
Arriving alone in a big city
The flight, the first night, the first week, the walk home. Covered properly once, so that it never needs to be covered again.
A female officer for a daughter
For families who prefer it, a female close protection officer who reads as an older friend. See female travel protection.
A family in the news
When the family name is known, the student is reachable through the university, the halls and social media. Cover is designed around that, quietly.
A contested family situation
Where there is a dispute about who may collect a child or where a parent may not approach, the school and the officer work from the same written instruction.
A medical condition
Allergies, diabetes, epilepsy, mental health. An officer briefed on the condition, the clinic chosen in advance and a plan for the night it matters.
Term ends and travel begins
Exeat weekends, half term, the flight home. The days when a student moves with belongings and cash are the days that need a car and an adult.
Wherever they study.
Licensed partners in London, Geneva, Zurich, Paris, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dubai and across Europe, with one contact for the family wherever the student is. See how our close protection works.
