What a New York client gets from us, and what they do not.

New Yorkers travel more than anyone else in the country and tend to arrive in Europe with a standard already set: a car at the curb, a schedule that holds, a hotel that knows them, and, for the ones who have it at home, a security detail that works. The last of those does not cross the Atlantic. Every European country licenses private protection locally and none recognizes a New York guard registration, a US firearms permit or a US company's insurance. The detail that works on Park Avenue cannot legally work on Via Condotti. What we do is deliver the same standard through officers licensed where you land, from one desk, to a plan your own security director helped write.

Most New York clients book one thing: a licensed close protection officer at the wheel of an executive car, in Rome, Milan, Paris or London, for the arrival, the days that matter and the evenings. Families add a second officer for Como or the Riviera in August. Public figures add a senior officer and advance work. Family offices get a line-item proposal their compliance team can read. We reply on Eastern time, usually within two hours, in EUR with the USD figure beside it, and the proposal figure is final. At home, for the weeks you are in Manhattan, the Hamptons or Greenwich, the same desk coordinates licensed New York partners. Send the itinerary; a person reads it the same morning.

  • Officers licensed in each country you land in: GPG in Italy, CNAPS in France, SIA in the UK, Ministry of the Interior in Spain, licensed companies in the Gulf and Latin America
  • A security driver with an executive vehicle as the default New York booking, with a second officer for events, August on the lakes and the evenings out
  • One coordinator for a multi-city trip, Milan to Paris to London, with one figure and officers handing over at each border
  • Replies on Eastern time, usually within two hours and always within 24; your flight out of JFK or Newark is tracked and the arrival is planned around it
  • Proposal in EUR with an indicative USD figure beside it; payment by card including American Express, or transfer; the proposal figure is final
  • At home: licensed New York partners under DCJS registration for Manhattan, the Hamptons season and Westchester and Greenwich estates, coordinated by the same desk
Straight Answers

What New York clients ask before they book.

Legal

Can my New York detail come with me to Europe?

As staff and advisors, yes. As protection, no. Italy, France, the UK and Spain each license officers locally and recognize no US registration, firearms permit or insurance. Your team writes the plan with us; the licensed local officer carries it out. Your security director is welcome on every call.

Cost

What does it cost in dollars?

Close protection in Western Europe starts from EUR 850 per day for one officer on a twelve-hour block, the market base, with the executive vehicle added. The indicative USD figure appears beside every EUR figure on this site for visitors from the US. The proposal is in EUR and the figure on it is final.

Hours

Will you answer on New York time?

Yes. A person reads every message and replies usually within two hours and always within 24, on Eastern time as well as European. A Sunday evening email from Manhattan is answered before you board on Monday.

Flights

Do you meet overnight flights?

Every one. JFK and Newark fly nonstop to Rome, Milan, Paris, London, Madrid, Lisbon, Dubai and Doha, and most land between seven and ten in the morning. The flight is tracked, the officer is inside the terminal, and the hotel has been told a car is coming.

Home

Do you cover New York itself?

Through licensed New York partners, yes: Manhattan, the Hamptons in season, Westchester and Greenwich estates, with security drivers and officers registered under New York State DCJS rules. The same desk coordinates home and abroad, which is the point for a family that travels nine months of the year.

Family office

How do you work with a family office?

As the ground element of your plan. You receive a written proposal with the licensed company, the officers, the vehicles, the routes and the escalation chain before anyone travels, one coordinator during the trip, and a report afterwards if you want one. The paperwork your compliance team asks for is part of the service.

Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Rio and the Caribbean

Why the Park Avenue detail stops at the jet bridge

A New York executive protection agent is trained, armed where permitted, registered under the Division of Criminal Justice Services and insured by a New York company. None of that has standing in Rome, Paris, London or Madrid. Italy licenses protection through Prefettura-authorized institutes and sworn GPG officers; France through the CNAPS, officer by officer; the United Kingdom through the SIA, and the police are entitled to ask; Spain under Law 5/2014. A US agent working a hotel lobby abroad is unlicensed, uninsured and, if stopped, the reason a trip ends early. The model that works is the one we run: your security director keeps the strategy and writes the plan with us, and we provide the officer who is legal, insured and English-speaking where you are. The standard travels. The license does not.

The overnight flight, and the first hour on the ground

New York flies to Europe overnight and lands tired at breakfast. JFK and Newark run nonstop to Rome, Milan, Paris, London, Madrid, Lisbon, Dubai and Doha, and the arrival hour is the one most trips get wrong: everyone carrying everything, a crowd offering taxis, the hotel not yet ready. We track the flight from departure, meet you inside the terminal, count the luggage onto the car, walk you past the touts and drive you to a hotel whose security already knows a car is coming. For a family off the overnight from JFK with children and bags, that hour sets the week. For an executive with a nine o'clock meeting in Milan, it is the meeting.

August: Como, the Riviera, Sardinia and the New York summer abroad

When the Hamptons empty in August, a part of New York moves to Lake Como, the Riviera, the Costa Smeralda and Marbella, and the booking changes shape: a villa with staff you have not met, a boat, a one-lane lake road after dinner, children who split from the group, a wedding with photographers who were not invited. The arrangement is residential cover with a night presence, a security driver who knows the road, a second officer for the big days and a female officer where the family prefers one, run as one program for the month with one coordinator. The good officers on the lake are committed by May; book the detail with the villa.

The working week: Milan, Paris, London in five days

The New York board week in Europe is three capitals in five days, and the exposure is logistical: the car that cannot be found when the meeting ends, the schedule built without slack, a strike in Paris, a march on a Saturday. One security driver in each city, handing over at the border, with one coordinator who moves the day when the diary moves, keeps the week on time and the principal out of the taxi line. The driver is a licensed close protection officer, which matters less for the threat than for the discipline: advance work on the venues, the alternative route already fixed, the arrival at the door rather than the curb.

Public figures: being known in New York and recognized in Milan

New York produces people who are recognized abroad: in finance, fashion, media, sport and entertainment. Milan in Fashion Week, Paris in Fashion Week, Cannes in May and London any week are where a New York face meets a European crowd with cameras. The honest answer is one senior licensed officer, dressed for the setting, moving with you rather than behind you, with advance work on the venues and the back doors, a second officer for the shows and the evenings, and a car at every door. Not a visible team, which in Europe draws the attention it is meant to prevent. We plan these weeks months ahead because the officers who know the backstage doors are committed early.

At home: Manhattan, the Hamptons and Greenwich, from the same desk

A family that travels nine months of the year does not want two security relationships. For the weeks in New York we coordinate licensed partners registered under New York State DCJS rules: security drivers in Manhattan, estate and event cover in the Hamptons season, Westchester and Greenwich residential work, and armed officers where the assessment and the law allow. The desk that planned your August on Como knows your family, your staff and your standard, and the New York work is run to the same written plan. Our New York, Palm Beach and Miami pages describe the home service in detail.

How It Works

Itinerary, plan, officers, arrival, report.

Step 01

The itinerary

Dates, cities, party, profile, and what your home team already knows. Under NDA from the first message, answered on Eastern time; your security director is welcome on the call.

Step 02

The written plan

Licensed company and officers in each country, vehicles, routes, hotel liaison, medical and embassy references, escalation chain, and one figure in EUR with the USD beside it. Sent before anyone travels.

Step 03

Officers matched

Licensed where they work, English-speaking, selected for the profile: a female officer for a family, a security driver for a working week, a senior officer for a public figure.

Step 04

The arrival

The overnight from JFK or Newark tracked, met inside the terminal, the car at the door, the first hotel already briefed.

Step 05

The program

One coordinator across every city, officers handing over cleanly at each border, the plan held when the diary moves.

Step 06

Report

A short written account at the end for your file or your security director's, if you want one. Then nothing: no newsletter, no follow-up calls.

Good to Know

Executive Protection for New York Clients - Frequently Asked Questions

Can my New York security detail work in Europe?

Not as protection. Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Spain each license officers locally and recognize no New York DCJS registration, US firearms permit or US insurance. Your detail can travel as staff and advise, and your security director is welcome on every call; the licensed local officer carries out the plan you helped write.

How much does executive protection in Europe cost a New York client in dollars?

Close protection in Italy, France, Spain and the UK starts from EUR 850 per day for one officer on a twelve-hour block, with the executive vehicle added. An indicative USD figure appears beside every EUR figure on this site for visitors from the US. The proposal and the invoice are in EUR and the proposal figure is final; American Express is accepted.

Do you reply on New York time?

Yes. A person reads every message and replies usually within two hours and always within 24, on Eastern time as well as European. A Sunday evening message from Manhattan is answered before you board on Monday.

Do you meet the overnight flights from JFK and Newark?

Every one. Rome, Milan, Paris, London, Madrid, Lisbon, Dubai and Doha are all nonstop from New York and most land in the morning. The flight is tracked from departure, the officer waits inside the terminal, the luggage is counted onto the car and the hotel has been told a car is coming.

What do most New York clients actually book?

One licensed close protection officer at the wheel of an executive car in Rome, Milan, Paris or London for the arrival, the days that matter and the evenings. Families add residential cover and a second officer for August on the lakes and the Riviera. Public figures add a senior officer and advance work for Fashion Week.

Do you cover New York itself, the Hamptons and Greenwich?

Yes, through licensed New York partners registered under New York State DCJS rules: security drivers in Manhattan, estate and event cover in the Hamptons season, and Westchester and Greenwich residential work, coordinated by the same desk that runs your travel. See our New York bodyguard and chauffeur pages.

How do you work with a family office or security director?

As the ground element of their plan: a written proposal before travel with the licensed company, the officers, the vehicles, the routes and the escalation chain, one coordinator during the trip, and a report afterwards if wanted. The paperwork the compliance team asks for is part of the service.

Can you cover the Gulf and Latin America as well as Europe?

Yes. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha, where many New York clients connect or winter, and Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Rio and the Caribbean, where the threat picture is higher and licensed local protection earns the fee, are coordinated from the same desk as Europe, as one program when the trip spans both.

Can I hire an armed bodyguard in Europe?

Rarely, and almost never usefully. The UK does not allow armed private protection; Italy, France and Spain allow it only through specific licensed channels with about 30 days' notice and no guarantee of approval. Most New York visits are covered unarmed, by design, and correctly.

How much notice do you need?

Seven days as a minimum. August on the lakes, Fashion Week and the Christmas resorts need more, because the officers who know the villas and the venues are committed early. Under 48 hours is an urgency case with an additional fee and no guarantee of cover.
