London does not sell itself in an afternoon.

Bond Street, Sloane Street, Mount Street, Harrods, Selfridges and Savile Row are forty minutes apart in traffic and a different world each, and a day that tries to do them without appointments, a driver and someone who knows the houses ends in a taxi queue with heavy bags. A personal shopper in London at Algoz is one professional who builds the day before you land, walks it with you, speaks to the houses, holds the car, handles the fittings and the shipping, and folds in protection on the days when the purchases justify it.

The goods are invoiced to you by the houses at their own price; our fee is a separate line, and the car, lunch and shipping are passed through at cost. One honest point before you plan: the United Kingdom no longer refunds VAT to visitors on purchases carried out of the country, so the day is planned around that rather than around a counter at the airport. Tell us the dates and the houses.

  • Appointments made before you land, in the houses you name
  • One professional beside you all day, in your language
  • A car and a driver held for the day, bags into the car and not down the street
  • Savile Row, Jermyn Street and the jewellers planned across several visits where needed
  • Discreet protection on the day when the purchases justify it
  • No VAT refund in the UK since 2021: we say so and plan around it
Direct answers

A personal shopper in London: the first questions.

Service

What it actually is

Appointments in advance, someone with you through each house who knows the staff and the stock, help with sizes, alterations, fittings and shipping, a car held all day and lunch booked. A stylist only if you ask.

Languages

Who you will be with

English as standard. Arabic, Russian, Chinese, French, Spanish and Portuguese on request with notice. The person speaks to the house in its own terms and to you in your language.

Cost

What it costs

Quoted against the day: how many houses, how many people, whether a car is held, which languages, and whether the day ends in a purchase that needs covering back to the hotel. One figure before anything is booked.

Model

How the bill works

The house invoices you at its own price; we never sit in the middle. Our fee is a separate line. Drivers, restaurants and shipping are passed through at cost. No commission from the houses.

Speed

How much notice we need

Seven days for a normal day. More in late November and December, during London Fashion Week and in the weeks around Wimbledon and Ascot, when the private rooms are taken. Under 48 hours is attempted with an urgency fee and no promise.

Limits

What nobody can do

No one gets you a waiting-list bag or watch on demand, and no one refunds UK VAT on goods you carry home. We get you the appointment, the honest answer and the next best thing.

Who books it

Who books a personal shopper in London.

Visitors

Two or three days

Clients with one short window who need Bond Street, Harrods, a tailor and a jeweller fitted into a day and a half, without a minute lost in traffic.

Gulf families

The summer in London

Families in Knightsbridge and Mayfair for weeks, where an Arabic-speaking professional, private rooms and a driver who knows Sloane Street are the difference between a visit and a chore.

Collectors

Jewellery and watches

Viewings on Bond Street and in the Burlington Arcade, with the purchase then carried back to the hotel, or home, by someone who knows what is in the bag. See hand-carry.

Tailoring

Savile Row and Jermyn Street

Bespoke suits, shirts and shoes planned across the fittings they need, timed to your visits, with the tailor briefed on the dates you will be in London.

Public figures

Private appointments

Clients who need the store opened early, the side entrance used and the day run as a protection movement. See close protection in London.

Remote buyers

Not travelling at all

Clients who want something found, checked, bought and sent, with photographs at each step and the export paperwork handled.

01 —

Bond Street, Mount Street and Mayfair

Old and New Bond Street for the houses and the jewellers, Mount Street for the quieter names, the Burlington Arcade for watches and the things that do not advertise. It is a village if every door expects you and a slog if none does. The day is built around the order of the houses, the private rooms booked where they exist and the car waiting on a side street rather than circling the block.

Knightsbridge and Sloane Street: Harrods and the rest

Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Sloane Street are their own day, especially in summer when the Gulf is in London. Harrods by appointment is a different store from Harrods on a Saturday: the private shopping suites, the right advisor on each floor, and a car at the right door. We book it that way.

Shipping, hand-carry and the VAT question

Since 2021 the United Kingdom does not refund VAT to visitors on goods they carry out of the country. What you would rather not carry can be shipped by the house directly to an address outside the UK, which changes the tax position, and we plan the day around that honestly rather than pretend a counter exists at Heathrow. What you would not trust to a box, a watch or a piece of jewellery, is carried by hand by a licensed officer. See asset transportation.

Asset transportation
How the day runs

Brief, appointments, one professional, one car.

Step 01

The brief

What you are looking for, the houses, sizes, dates, languages and who is travelling. Held under NDA before a name is shared with any house.

Step 02

Appointments

Made before you land: private rooms where they exist, the right advisor in each house, the tailor and the jeweller on the days you want.

Step 03

The route and the car

Mayfair and Knightsbridge in the right order, lunch where it fits, a driver held all day with the bags going into the car.

Step 04

The day

One professional beside you from the hotel to the last house, handling sizes, alterations, fittings and the paperwork.

Step 05

Shipping and carry

Shipping arranged for what you would rather not carry, with the tax position explained honestly; hand-carry for what you would not trust to a box.

Step 06

Home

Bags to the suite, receipts in one folder, the next fitting in the diary. If protection was part of the day, nobody noticed it.

Excellence, Discreetly Delivered

“London rewards the appointment. It punishes the walk-in with a queue and a taxi.”

Algoz Group
Indicative cost

What a personal shopper in London costs.

A shopping day is quoted against the day itself rather than from a menu: how many houses, how many people are being dressed, whether a car and driver are held, whether an Arabic, Russian or Chinese speaker is required, and whether the day ends in a purchase that needs covering back to the hotel. You get one figure before anything is booked, and it does not move afterwards.

For clients who come to London more than once a year, membership is usually the better route: Client Access starts at EUR 95 per month and annual tiers run from Guild at EUR 6,000 per year. In every case the goods are invoiced to you by the house at their own price, our fee is a separate line, and drivers, restaurants and shipping are passed through at cost. Summer

June to August

The Gulf is in London, Harrods is by appointment or not at all, and the private suites are booked in May.

December

Gifts and the holidays

Bond Street in December is appointments only for anyone who values the afternoon. We book them in November.

Fashion Week

February and September

The showrooms and the private sales around the shows, made weeks ahead.

Season

Ascot, Wimbledon and the summer events

The hats, the dress codes, the tailor who knows the enclosure rules and the jeweller who opens on a Sunday.

Tailoring

Savile Row across the year

Bespoke planned across the fittings it needs, timed to the visits you already make to London.

Transit

A day between flights

Heathrow, a car, four houses and a fitting, back to the airport. Done more often than you would think.

Good to Know

Personal Shopper in London: Frequently Asked Questions

What does a personal shopper in London actually do?

Makes the appointments before you land, walks the day with you from Bond Street to Knightsbridge, speaks to the houses, helps with sizes, alterations, fittings and shipping, holds a car and a driver so that the bags never go down the street, and books lunch. A stylist is available if you want one, but most clients want a London day that works.

How much does a personal shopper in London cost?

It is quoted against the day: the number of houses, the number of people being dressed, whether a car is held, which languages are needed and whether the day ends in a purchase that needs covering back to the hotel. You receive one figure before anything is booked. The houses invoice you at their own price, our fee is a separate line and there is no commission. Frequent visitors are usually better served by membership.

Can I get a VAT refund on shopping in London?

No. The United Kingdom withdrew the VAT refund scheme for visitors at the start of 2021, and goods you carry out of the country are not refunded. Goods a house ships directly to an address outside the UK are treated differently, and we plan the day around that honestly. Anyone promising you a refund counter at Heathrow is mistaken.

Do you speak Arabic, Russian or Chinese?

Yes, on request and with notice. English is standard; Arabic, Russian and Chinese speaking professionals are a standing part of our London network, and French, Spanish and Portuguese are available.

Can you arrange Harrods by appointment?

Yes. Harrods, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges all offer private shopping by appointment with the right advisor on each floor, and in summer and December that is the only way to use them well. We book the suite, the advisor and the door the car should be at.

Can you get me a waiting-list bag or watch?

No, and neither can anyone else on demand. We get you the appointment, the honest answer from the house, your name on the right list and the next best thing in the meantime. Anyone who promises the bag is about to sell you something else.

Can you handle Savile Row and bespoke tailoring?

Yes. Bespoke suits, shirts and shoes need several fittings over months, and we plan them around the visits you already make to London, brief the tailor on your dates and keep the diary. Jermyn Street shirts and shoes are handled on the same day.

Can you ship my purchases home?

Yes. What you would rather not carry is shipped by the house or under our asset transportation arrangements with the export paperwork handled. What you would not trust to a box, a watch or a piece of jewellery, is carried by hand by a licensed officer. See our hand-carry page.

Is protection included?

It is available on the same day and the same brief, and we recommend it when the purchases run into real money: a discreet officer, a car that is always outside and a route back to the hotel that nobody follows. For public figures the day is run as a protection movement. See close protection in London.

How much notice do you need?

Seven days for a normal day. More in summer, in December, during Fashion Week and around Ascot and Wimbledon, when the private rooms are taken weeks ahead. Under 48 hours is attempted with an urgency fee and no promise.

Can you shop for me if I am not in London?

Yes. Clients who want something found, checked, bought and sent receive photographs at each step, the purchase in your name and the item shipped or hand-carried to you, with the tax position explained.

Why Algoz rather than the store's own personal shopping service?

Because the store's service works for one store and you are shopping in eight, and because the parts of the day that go wrong, the traffic, the car, the fittings in three different places, the walk back to the hotel with the bags, are nobody's job but ours. One professional who handles the whole day and folds in protection where it is warranted is what we do.

Discreet, Integrated, Trusted

Executive concierge in London with protection woven in.

Assistants, chiefs of staff and family offices arranging a principal’s stay work with one team that handles access, reservations, transport and security together - not a switchboard of separate vendors. Brief us once; we anticipate the rest.

Access is real and discretion is absolute: NDA-backed, OPSEC-aware planning, low-profile delivery, multilingual operatives, and protection that integrates so naturally it is never intrusive. It is why UHNWI and HNWI clients, royal households and the advisors who serve them treat Algoz as a trustworthy single point of contact in London.
