Executive Protection for Chicago Clients, Abroad and at Home
What a Chicago client gets from us, and what they do not.
Chicago travels for finance, trading, law and industry, and it travels as families with a standard set on the North Shore: a car that is there, a schedule that holds, a hotel that knows the name, and, for the ones who have it, a detail that works. The detail does not cross the Atlantic. No European or Gulf country recognizes an Illinois PERC card, a firearm control card or a US company's insurance, and a Chicago agent working a London hotel lobby is unlicensed and uninsured. The threat picture for a Chicago client in Western Europe is low; the logistics picture and, for a trading or private-equity principal, the discretion picture are the whole job.
What we do is deliver the standard through officers licensed where you land, from one desk, on Central time. For the working week: a licensed security driver in London, Paris, Frankfurt or Zurich with an executive car, one coordinator across the trip, a proposal corporate security can read. For the family summer: a licensed officer at the wheel of a van or an SUV for Rome, Florence, Tuscany and Como, residential cover at the villa, a female officer where the family prefers one. A proposal in EUR with the USD beside it, the figure final, and a reply usually within two hours. At home, the same desk coordinates licensed Illinois partners for the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park and the North Shore. Send the itinerary; a person reads it the same morning.
- Officers licensed in each country you land in: SIA in the UK, CNAPS in France, GPG in Italy, Ministry of the Interior in Spain, licensed companies in Germany, Switzerland and the Gulf
- A security driver with an executive vehicle as the default Chicago booking for London, Paris, Frankfurt and Zurich, with a second officer for events and the evenings
- The family summer: a licensed officer at the wheel of a van or SUV for Rome, Florence, Tuscany and Lake Como, early entry at the museums, residential cover at the villa
- Replies on Central time, usually within two hours and always within 24; the overnight from O'Hare is tracked and the arrival planned around it
- Proposal in EUR with an indicative USD figure beside it; payment by card including American Express, or transfer; the proposal figure is final
- At home: licensed Illinois partners under IDFPR rules for the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lake Forest, Winnetka and the North Shore, coordinated by the same desk
What Chicago clients ask before they book.
Can my Chicago detail work in Europe?
As staff and advisors, yes. As protection, no. The UK, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Switzerland each license officers locally and recognize no Illinois PERC card, firearm control card or US insurance. Your corporate security writes the plan with us; the licensed local officer carries it out.
What does it cost in dollars?
Close protection in Western Europe starts from EUR 850 per day for one officer on a twelve-hour block, with the executive vehicle added. The indicative USD figure appears beside every EUR figure for visitors from the US. The proposal is in EUR and the figure on it is final.
What does a Chicago executive actually book?
A security driver: one licensed officer at the wheel of an executive car in London, Paris, Frankfurt or Zurich for the arrival, the meetings, the client dinner and the late return, with the car where it said it would be. The discipline matters more than the threat: advance work on the venues, the alternative route fixed, the arrival at the door.
What does a North Shore family book?
A licensed officer at the wheel of a van or an SUV for Rome, Florence, Paris or London: the arrival off the overnight from O'Hare, early entry at the Vatican and the Uffizi, the car held where a visitor cannot park, the group kept together, and the ride home. For a villa in Tuscany or on Como, residential cover and a female officer if preferred.
Will you answer on Central time?
Yes. A person reads every message and replies usually within two hours and always within 24, on Central time as well as European. A message from Winnetka at nine in the evening is answered the same night.
Do you cover Chicago itself?
Through licensed Illinois partners under IDFPR rules, yes: PERC-registered officers and security drivers for the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, the Loop and the North Shore, residential cover in Lake Forest, Winnetka, Glencoe and Hinsdale, and event work, armed where the assessment and Illinois law allow. The same desk coordinates home and abroad.

Why the Chicago detail stops at the jet bridge
An Illinois executive protection officer holds a PERC card from the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, often a firearm control card, and works for a licensed Illinois agency with Illinois insurance. None of that has standing in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome or Zurich. The United Kingdom licenses protection through the SIA and the police are entitled to ask; France through the CNAPS; Italy through Prefettura-authorized institutes; Spain under Law 5/2014; Germany and Switzerland through licensed companies under state and cantonal rules. A Chicago agent working a London hotel lobby is unlicensed, uninsured and, if stopped, the reason a trip ends early. The model that works: your corporate security keeps the strategy and writes the plan with us; we provide the officer who is legal, insured and English-speaking where you are. The standard travels. The license does not.
Executive protection in Europe for US clientsThe working week: London, Frankfurt, Zurich and Paris from the Loop
Chicago's finance, trading, private-equity and legal principals work the European capitals in weeks of three or four cities, and the exposure is logistical: the car that cannot be found when the meeting ends, the schedule built without slack, a strike in Paris, a march on a Saturday. One security driver in each city, handing over at the border, with one coordinator who moves the day when the diary moves, keeps the week on time and the principal out of the taxi line. The driver is a licensed close protection officer, which matters less for the threat than for the discipline: advance work on the venues, the alternative route already fixed, the arrival at the door rather than the curb, and a principal who is not the subject of a photograph at a restaurant window.
Bodyguard in LondonThe family summer: Rome, Florence, Tuscany and Como with children
North Shore families take Italy in June and July, with children, grandparents and luggage, and the booking is the one most Americans make: a licensed close protection officer at the wheel of a van or an SUV, for the arrival off the overnight from O'Hare, early entry at the Vatican and the Uffizi, the car held where a visitor cannot park, the group kept together in the crowds, the gelato stop and the afternoon back at the pool, and the ride home from dinner. For a villa in Tuscany or on Lake Como, residential cover with a night presence, a female officer if the family prefers one, and a driver who knows that the lake road is one lane in places. Not a team, which a Chicago family does not want and Italy does not need, and nothing armed, which Italy does not allow a visitor in any case.
Bodyguard in Lake ComoThe overnight from O'Hare, and the first hour on the ground
Chicago flies nonstop to London, Paris, Frankfurt, Zurich, Dublin, Dubai and Doha, and in season to Rome, Milan and Madrid, and the overnight lands at breakfast tired. The arrival hour is the one most trips get wrong: everyone carrying everything, a crowd offering taxis, the hotel not yet ready. We track the flight from departure, meet you inside the terminal, count the luggage onto the car, walk you past the touts and drive you to a hotel whose security already knows a car is coming. For a Chicago executive with a nine o'clock in the City it is the meeting; for a Lake Forest family off the overnight with three children and six bags it is the week.
Is Rome safe for American tourists?Discretion for the trading and private-equity principal
Chicago produces principals who are not recognized on a European street and would like to keep it that way, and whose exposure is informational rather than physical: who knows the itinerary, which hotel staff know the name, whether a deal dinner is photographed through a restaurant window. The plan treats it that way: itineraries shared with the licensed partner on a need-to-know basis, the hotel briefed on the name and the entrance, restaurants chosen for the table out of the window line, one officer dressed for the setting rather than a visible team, and nothing kept by us afterwards beyond the invoice. For a principal whose week in London is a transaction, the quiet is the service.
What a bodyguard costs in US dollarsAt home: the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park and the North Shore, from the same desk
A family that works in London, summers in Italy and lives in Lake Forest or on the Gold Coast does not want three security relationships. For the weeks in Illinois we coordinate licensed partners under IDFPR rules: PERC-registered officers and security drivers for the Loop, the Gold Coast and Lincoln Park, residential cover in Lake Forest, Winnetka, Glencoe, Kenilworth and Hinsdale, event and gala work, and armed officers where the assessment and Illinois law allow. The desk that planned your Como summer knows your family, your staff and your standard, and the Chicago work runs to the same written plan. Our Chicago chauffeur page describes the home service.
