Deep Dive Dubai is a 60-metre pool in Nad Al Sheba, verified as the deepest in the world, holding 14 million litres of fresh water kept at 30 degrees, with a sunken city on the bottom: an apartment, a garage, an arcade, a car, a library, a telephone box, all of it built to be explored, and nothing alive in it. It is the single most unusual thing a visitor can do in the city, open to anyone from ten years old who can swim, and it is booked badly by almost everyone who does it: a slot in a group, a fixed hour that does not fit the day, an instructor they did not choose, a first breath underwater taken next to strangers, and a video they did not want. The pool deserves better, and so does the person going into it for the first time.

Our own instructors take the session, or we select a Deep Dive Dubai instructor by name, chosen for the diver: a first dive for someone who has never breathed underwater, taken slowly and alone with the instructor; a guided dive to the car and the apartment for a certified diver who wants the depth; a freediving session for someone who wants the quiet; a full scuba or freediving course spread across the week so the certification is earned in a pool with no current, no cold and no visibility problem. I have never dived. Can I do this?
Yes. The first-dive session is built for people who have never breathed underwater: a briefing on dry land, the first breaths at the surface, then a slow guided descent with your instructor beside you to the depth you are comfortable with, in warm, clear, still water. No certification is needed, you need to be able to swim and be in reasonable health, and the age is ten and up. Many of our first-timers are parents diving beside their teenagers.
I am a certified diver. What do I get?
A guided dive to the sunken city within your certification limits, with your own instructor rather than a group: the apartment, the garage, the car, the arcade, the library, at your pace, with the time to look. The pool has no current, no cold and no visibility problem, so it is also the best place in the region to go deeper under instruction than you ever have.
Do you run freediving sessions?
Yes, and the pool is made for it: warm, still, clear and 60 metres deep. A first freediving session for someone who wants to learn to hold their breath properly, a coached session for an experienced freediver working on depth, or a full freediving course across the week with our instructor.
Can I earn a certification during my stay?
Yes. A scuba certification course or a freediving course can be spread across a stay of four to seven days, with the theory done at the hotel and the water sessions at Deep Dive Dubai with your own instructor. Tell us the days you have and the certification you want; we write the schedule around the rest of the trip.
What does it cost?
The session or the course is quoted to the diver, the depth and the days, with Deep Dive Dubai's own fees passed through at cost and our instructor and coordination shown separately. One figure in EUR, with the USD beside it for visitors from the US, sent the same day as your message.
Does the instructor speak my language?
Yes. We select the instructor for the diver and the language: English, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian or Arabic. A first breath underwater should be explained in the language you think in.

Deep Dive Dubai opened in 2021 in Nad Al Sheba inside a building shaped like an oyster, a nod to the pearl diving the Emirates were built on. The pool is 60.02 metres deep, verified as the deepest in the world for diving, holds 14 million litres of fresh water, the volume of six Olympic pools, and keeps it at 30 degrees all year, which means a thin wetsuit or none. The bottom is a sunken city: an abandoned streetscape with a furnished apartment, a garage, an arcade, a car, a library, a bicycle, a chess game and a telephone box, lit and built to be explored. There is no marine life and no coral; it is not an aquarium. Safety is engineered rather than hoped for: dozens of cameras watch the water and a hyperbaric chamber sits on site. For a first dive it is the kindest water in the world; for a certified diver it is the deepest.

A first breath underwater is a private moment, and the standard way to book the pool, a slot in a group with an instructor assigned on the day, is the wrong way to have it. Privately, the session belongs to you: the briefing is a conversation, the descent is as slow as you need, the instructor is beside you and nobody else, and the session ends when you are done rather than when the slot does. Our own instructors run it, or we select a Deep Dive Dubai instructor by name, chosen for the diver: patient with a nervous first-timer, technical with a certified diver who wants depth, experienced in freediving for someone who wants the quiet, and speaking the language of the person in the water. For a family, one instructor each where the group needs it, so the parents are not watching the teenagers from the surface.

A first session teaches what the body already knows, how to relax, how to breathe before a dive and how to equalize, and takes a beginner to a depth they did not expect in an hour. A coached session for an experienced freediver is about depth and technique without the cold, the swell and the boat ride that make open-water training slow. A full freediving course across a stay gives the certification in a week, with our instructor and the pool to yourselves. Deep Dive Dubai is open from ten years old, and a first dive together is the thing a family remembers from a Dubai week. We run it as a family session: one instructor for the parents and one for the children where the group needs it, the briefing done together, the descent at the pace of the youngest, and the session ending when they are done. For a teenager who takes to it, a certification course can start the same week. The session is driven from the hotel and back by our driver, lunch is booked after, and the day is fitted around the beach club or the desert by the desk that plans the rest of the stay. Nothing is filmed unless you ask.

Nad Al Sheba is twenty to forty minutes from Downtown, the Palm and the Marina depending on the hour, and a dive session is two to three hours door to door. We put it in the day where it belongs: a morning session before a beach club afternoon, an afternoon session after a lazy morning, a course spread across the quiet hours of a week. The session or the course is quoted to the diver, the depth and the days: Deep Dive Dubai's own entry and equipment fees are passed through at cost, and our instructor, the transfer and the coordination are shown separately, never folded into a marked-up package. A first dive, a guided dive and a freediving session are each a single line; a certification course is one figure for the week. Visitors from the US see the USD beside every EUR figure. Client Access membership from EUR 95 per month suits anyone who comes to Dubai more than once a year.
