Private Security for Solo Female Travel in Italy: One Officer, Your Trip

Italy is safe for a woman traveling alone. This page is for the women who would simply rather have one trusted person on the ground: a licensed officer who drives, walks beside you when you want, disappears when you do not, and knows the country.

Italy is safe for solo women. Here is what this is for.

Italy is one of the easier countries in the world for a woman to travel alone. Women go everywhere alone here, harassment of visitors is uncommon if occasionally loud, and the risks are the ones every visitor faces: pickpockets on the crowded bus, a phone lifted from a cafe table, a taxi that was never a taxi, and a walk home at two in the morning through emptier streets. A careful woman with good habits needs no officer, and we say so on our safety pages. This page is for a different question, the one American women ask us most: I am traveling alone, I can afford to do it well, and I would rather not spend the trip managing the logistics and the strangers. Who do I call?

The answer is one licensed officer, female if you prefer, who is your driver, your protection and your local for the days you want and invisible for the days you do not. She or he meets you inside the terminal, takes you to the hotel, knows where to eat, carries the bags on Via Condotti, is outside the club at three in the morning, drives you down the Amalfi Coast, and, if you want to dive at Isola Bella or walk the Path of the Gods, comes too. Not a team, not a tour, not a man in a suit behind you. One good person who knows Italy. Send your dates and your cities and we tell you honestly what your trip needs, including nothing.

  • One licensed close protection officer, a sworn GPG from a Prefettura-authorized institute, insured and English-speaking, female on request in every Italian city
  • Driver, protection and local in one person: the arrival, the car, the restaurants, the shopping streets, the evenings and the days out, with the hours you choose
  • The rest of the day is yours: the officer covers the arrival, the evenings and the crowded days, and the museum morning or the spa afternoon is entirely your own
  • Dressed for the setting and never behind you: at the table or across the street, in the car or walking beside you, as you decide
  • Active days included: diving, boats, hiking and riding with an officer who does them, not one who waits in the car
  • Twelve-hour blocks with overtime per hour written on the proposal; the night ends when you decide, at the car door
Straight Answers

What women traveling alone ask us before booking.

Safety

Is Italy actually safe for a solo female traveler?

Yes, and this page says so first. Women travel alone everywhere in Italy; harassment is uncommon if occasionally loud; the real risks are pickpockets, phones, unlicensed taxis and the late walk home, all of them habits. A careful woman needs no officer. This service is for the woman who would rather not manage the logistics and the strangers.

Female

Can I have a female officer?

Yes, in every Italian city on request. Many clients prefer it for the simplicity of it: two women at dinner draw no attention, a female officer in a spa or a boutique is unremarkable, and the conversation in the car is easy. Male officers are equally available; you choose.

Cost

What does it cost in US dollars?

Licensed close protection in Italy starts from EUR 850 per day for one officer on a twelve-hour block; the executive car is added by class. An indicative USD figure appears beside each EUR figure for visitors from the US. The proposal is in EUR, the figure on it is final, and American Express is accepted.

Time

Will I have any time to myself?

As much as you want. Most solo clients book the officer for the arrival, the evenings and the two or three days when the city is at its most crowded, and keep the museum mornings, the spa afternoons and the long lunches entirely to themselves. The hours are yours to set, and the car is on standby when you want it.

Awkward

Will it feel strange to have a bodyguard?

Not with the right officer. This is not a man in a dark suit two steps behind you. It is a Roman or a Milanese who drives, knows the restaurants, sits at the table if you want company and across the street if you do not, and is simply there at the end of the night. Clients describe it afterwards as having a friend in the city who happens to be licensed.

Active

I want to dive, hike and ride, not sit in a car.

Then the officer comes too. Our Italian officers include certified divers, riders and hikers; one client went from Rome to Taormina and finished the trip diving at Isola Bella with the officer as her dive instructor. Tell us what you want to do and we match the person.

What the Trip Includes

Private security for a woman traveling alone in Italy, by moment.

Arrival

Met Inside the Terminal

Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, Naples or Catania: flight tracked, met inside, luggage counted onto the car, the touts walked past, the hotel already told a car is coming.

City

The Days You Choose

The Vatican at opening, the Uffizi, the Duomo, the Rialto: the car held where a visitor cannot park, the officer walking the streets a car cannot enter, and the crowd read for you.

Shopping

Via Condotti, the Quadrilatero, the Ponte Vecchio

The bags carried or taken to the car, the watch worn at dinner, the purchases moved separately when they are worth moving.

Evenings

Dinner, Drinks and the Ride Home

The table booked where Italians eat, the officer at the table or across the street, the piazza for drinks, and the car at the door at whatever hour you decide.

Coast

Amalfi, Capri, Sicily, the Lakes

The coast road that is one lane in places, the boat to Capri, the ferry to Sicily, the lake villa: the same officer, the same car, the return time stated honestly.

Active

Diving, Hiking, Riding, Boats

Isola Bella, the Path of the Gods, the Dolomites, a sailboat off Sardinia, with an officer who does it rather than waits in the car.

Why we say Italy is safe first, and mean it

Any security firm that sells protection to women by frightening them about Italy is lying, and we would rather lose the booking. Italy is one of the safer countries in the world for a woman alone. Violent crime against visitors is rare, the centers are busy and lit until late, and the women who live here go everywhere by themselves. What actually happens is petty: a wallet on the 64 bus in Rome, a phone from a terrace in Milan, an unlicensed taxi at the station, a man who talks too long at a bar, the walk home at two in the morning. Our safety pages for Rome, Milan and Europe say exactly where and when, and most women need nothing more. This page is for the woman who has read them, knows she is safe, and would still rather have one person on the ground so the trip is about Italy and not about logistics.

What the officer actually does on a solo trip

Meets you inside the terminal and gets you to the hotel without a conversation about taxis. Drives, and parks where a visitor cannot. Knows where Italians eat and gets you to the door. Carries the bags on the shopping streets and holds the car door. Sits at dinner if you want company and across the street if you do not. Reads a crowd at the Vatican or the Duomo and keeps you out of the part of it that matters. Is outside the club at three in the morning. Drives the Amalfi road, takes the boat to Capri, dives at Isola Bella or walks the Path of the Gods if that is your trip. And, on the days you want the city to yourself, is reachable and absent. A licensed close protection officer does the protective part without ever making it the point; the point is your trip.

A female officer, and why many clients ask for one

Every Italian city on this page has licensed female officers available, and a majority of our solo female clients ask for one. The reason is rarely safety. It is simplicity: two women at a table draw no attention anywhere in Italy, a female officer in a boutique, a spa or a hotel pool is unremarkable, the conversation in the car over four days is easy, and a woman who wants to talk about the trip rather than about the security of it finds that natural. Male officers are equally available, equally discreet, and some clients prefer them. You choose, and we match the person to you rather than to a stereotype of what protection looks like.

The evenings, which is where this earns its fee

Italy at night is the point of Italy, and it runs late: aperitivo at seven, dinner at nine, a piazza until one, a club until four. For a woman alone the only real question of the evening is the walk home, and the officer answers it by making sure there is no walk. The table is booked, the car is at the door, the officer sits with you or watches from across the street, and when you decide the night is over the car is outside, whatever the hour, with overtime per hour agreed in advance and written on the proposal. One client in Rome ended a Saturday at four in the morning after a club on the river; the officer had been outside since midnight. She described it as the first night out abroad in years she had not spent half-thinking about the ride back.

The shopping days: Via Condotti, the Quadrilatero, the Ponte Vecchio

A woman shopping alone in Rome, Milan or Florence is the visitor most likely to be noticed, not because of who she is but because of what she carries. The boutiques are secure. The exposure is the walk between them with the bags, the watch on the wrist afterwards, the phone held out for a photo at the Steps. The officer carries or takes the bags to the car, holds the door, removes the walk, and arranges for purchases worth moving to travel to the hotel separately. The watch goes on at dinner, not for the walk. None of it is dramatic. All of it is why a shopping day with the officer ends at a table and not at a police station filling in a form.

Rome to the coast, the islands and the lakes: one officer, as far as you go

Solo trips to Italy rarely stay in one city, and they should not. The officer who has spent three days with you in Rome drives you to Positano and Ravello, takes the boat to Capri, hands you to a colleague in Florence or flies to Catania with you for Taormina and the slopes of Etna. Lake Como from Milan, the Dolomites from Venice, Sardinia from anywhere. The whole trip is one program with one coordinator and one figure in EUR with the USD beside it, and the person you trusted on day one is the person at the car door on day ten. One client extended from Rome to Taormina on the strength of the first three days and finished her trip diving at Isola Bella with the officer as her instructor. That is how this is meant to work.

07 —

What this is not

It is not a tour. The officer does not narrate the Colosseum; a licensed guide does that if you want one, and we book her. It is not a team: one person, chosen for you, not two men in suits. It is not armed, because private armed protection in Italy is slow, rarely granted and never the right answer for a visitor. It is not a chaperone: your trip, your hours, your table or your solitude, and the officer reads which you want without being told twice. And it is not for every woman traveling alone. If you want to ride the metro, walk Rome for a week and eat where you find yourself, you need our safety page and nothing else, and we will tell you so when you write.

Is Europe safe for Americans right now?

How American women find us, and what they tell us afterwards

Most arrive from a search that says some version of "is Italy safe for a woman traveling alone" and leave with a different question answered. They write on WhatsApp or by email, first names from the first message, dates and cities and what they want the trip to be. They get a straight answer within hours, often that they need less than they feared. The ones who book tend to be women traveling alone by choice, with high standards for the trip and no patience for the logistics, who want authentic rather than famous and are happy to stay out late in the right places. Afterwards they tell us the same things: that the arrival was the calmest they have had in Europe, that the restaurants were the trip, that the night out without the ride-home worry was worth the whole fee, and that they did not expect to bring a bottle of wine for the officer at the end. Some do.

Executive protection in Europe for US clients
Italy by Season

When to book the officer early.

September and October

The American season

The best weather, the fullest restaurants, and more US visitors than any other month. The good officers, female ones especially, are committed early.

May and June

Before the heat

The coast opens, the lakes are green, Rome and Florence are busy but bearable. The second-best weeks to be alone in Italy.

July and August

Heat and crowds

Ninety-five degrees in Rome, the Amalfi road at a standstill, Sicily at its best on the water. The car is air-conditioned and the officer knows the hours to move.

Fashion Weeks

Milan, February and September

The Quadrilatero fills with what thieves want and every hotel lobby has a camera outside. A driver matters most in these weeks.

Christmas and New Year

Shopping and midnight Mass

Via Condotti at its fullest and Rome at its most beautiful. The car door, not the pavement, and the ride home on the 31st.

Winter

Quiet Italy

Florence and Venice without the crowds, the best tables easy, the officer available on short notice. The season for a woman who wants the cities to herself.

How It Works

Step 04

The plan

Hotel security called, tables booked, the museums timed for quiet hours, the coast days with honest return times, the overtime rate written down.

Step 05

The arrival

Met inside the terminal, walked past the touts, at the hotel door in the time the road allows. The calmest arrival you have had in Europe.

Step 06

Your Italy

The days you chose with the officer, the days you chose alone, the nights that end at the car door, the coast as far as you want. Then nothing: no newsletter, no follow-up calls.

Private Security for Solo Female Travel in Italy - Frequently Asked Questions

Is Italy safe for a solo female traveler?

Yes. Women travel alone everywhere in Italy, violent crime against visitors is rare, and harassment is uncommon if occasionally loud. The real risks are pickpockets on crowded buses and metros, phones lifted from cafe tables, unlicensed taxis at airports and stations, and the walk home late at night. A careful woman with good habits needs no officer; this page is for the woman who would rather have one person on the ground anyway.

What does private security for a solo female traveler in Italy include?

One licensed close protection officer, female on request, who is your driver, your protection and your local for the days you choose: met inside the terminal, driven and parked where a visitor cannot, the restaurants and the shopping streets covered, the evenings ended at the car door at whatever hour, and the coast, the islands and the lakes with the same person. The rest of the day is yours.

Can I request a female bodyguard in Italy?

Yes, in Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, Naples, Sicily and the lakes. A majority of our solo female clients ask for one, usually for simplicity rather than safety: two women at a table draw no attention, and the conversation over several days is easy. Male officers are equally available; you choose.

How much does a bodyguard for a solo female traveler cost in US dollars?

Licensed close protection in Italy starts from EUR 850 per day for one officer on a twelve-hour block; the executive car is added by class and a fixed coordination fee covers the planning. An indicative USD figure appears beside each EUR figure for visitors from the US. You book the days you want covered, not the whole trip, and a multi-city trip receives one figure.

Will I still have time to myself?

As much as you want. Most solo clients cover the arrival, the evenings and two or three crowded days, and keep the museum mornings, the spa afternoons and the long lunches entirely their own. The hours are yours to set and the car is on standby when you want it.

Will it feel awkward to have a bodyguard with me?

Not with the right officer, and matching the officer to you is the job. This is not a man in a dark suit two steps behind you. It is a local who drives, knows the restaurants, sits with you if you want company and across the street if you do not, and is simply there at the end of the night. Clients describe it as having a friend in the city who happens to be licensed.

Can the officer come diving, hiking or riding with me?

Yes. Our Italian officers include certified divers, riders and hikers, and we match the person to what you want to do. One client finished a Rome and Taormina trip diving at Isola Bella with the officer as her dive instructor.

What happens on a late night out?

The night ends when you decide, at the car door. The officer is at the table or across the street, the car is outside, and overtime beyond the twelve-hour block is charged per hour at a rate written on the proposal before you book. The ride home is never a question.

Is the officer armed?

No. Private armed protection in Italy is slow, rarely granted and never the right answer for a visitor. Every licensed Italian officer works unarmed, by planning, positioning and the car, and that is exactly what a solo trip needs.

Can the same officer travel with me from Rome to the Amalfi Coast or Sicily?

Yes. The officer drives you to Positano and Ravello, takes the boat to Capri, hands you to a colleague in Florence or flies with you to Catania for Taormina. The trip is one program with one coordinator and one figure, and the person you trusted on day one is at the car door on day ten.

How much notice do you need?

Seven days as a minimum, and more in September and October, the American season, when the good officers, female ones especially, are committed early. Under 48 hours is an urgency case with an additional fee and no guarantee.

How do I get in touch and how do I pay?

WhatsApp or email, first names from the first message, answered in US hours as well as Italian and under NDA. A written proposal with one final figure in EUR and the USD beside it, a deposit to secure the dates, the balance before arrival, by card including American Express or by bank transfer. Overtime, if any, is settled at the end at the written hourly rate.
