Hiring a concierge in Sicily: the questions people ask first.

What it is

What a concierge in Sicily actually does

Books the villa staff, the boat, the driver and the table, and holds the week together when the ferry time changes. On an island where the good suppliers are local and seasonal, it is access plus somebody who answers the phone in August.

Cost

What a concierge in Sicily costs

Membership from EUR 95 per month for Client Access, or a single engagement quoted against the brief. Villas, boats, drivers and tables are passed through at cost with our fee shown separately, so nothing is buried in a package price.

Lead time

How much notice we need

At least seven days, and months for July and August. The island runs on a short season: the best villas, the reliable skippers and the strongest guides are committed by spring, and August is not a month where money creates supply.

Villas

Do you handle villa rentals and staff?

Yes, and the staffing is usually the part that decides the week. Chef, housekeeping, driver and a local fixer who can reach a plumber on a Sunday in August matter more than the photographs of the pool did.

Coverage

Where we cover in Sicily

Taormina and Giardini Naxos, Palermo and Mondello, Syracuse and Ortigia, Noto and the Val di Noto, Catania and Etna, Cefalù and Ragusa, plus the Aeolian and Egadi islands.

Security

Is protection included?

No, it is a separate licensed service under Italian law, delivered by Prefettura-authorised officers and priced separately. Most Sicily briefs do not need it. Close protection in Sicily.

One Contact, All Year

What a private concierge in Sicily actually does.

A concierge in Sicily is not a guide and not a travel agency. It is one number that holds the reservations, the drivers, the villa staff, the boat, the tickets and the protection, and that answers at eleven at night in August when a table falls through or a flight into Catania lands two hours late. Algoz keeps that number staffed on the island itself, year-round, so nothing is routed through an office in another country and no request waits for European office hours.

Clients come to us as families taking a villa for the summer, principals arriving by yacht, offices planning a week for someone whose name should not appear on a booking sheet, and couples marrying above the Ionian. One brief, one coordinator, everything from the airport meet to the last transfer arranged inside it. If you want to understand how an engagement is priced before you enquire, our concierge cost guide explains it openly.

Concierge staff in Sicily who work in French, Spanish and Russian.

Almost everything sold as a concierge service on this island is delivered in Italian and, at a stretch, in English. That becomes a real limit the moment a week involves a surgeon, a notary, a contract, a school visit, or simply a grandmother who is not going to switch languages on holiday. Our coordinators work in Italian and English as standard, and we staff French, Spanish and Russian on the island rather than by telephone from somewhere else.

Said plainly: a Russian speaking concierge in Sicily, a French speaking concierge in Taormina, a Spanish speaking concierge on the Palermo side, an English speaking concierge anywhere on the island. It is why a multilingual concierge in Sicily is worth asking for by name, and it is also why we will tell you honestly when a specific language cannot be covered on your exact dates instead of promising it and improvising later.

Where a specialist interpreter is needed for a medical appointment, a legal signing or a negotiation, we arrange one properly rather than stretching a coordinator into a role they were never trained for.

Sicily concierge services

Reserve

Tables & Access

Restaurant tables in the weeks they are gone by March, theatre and festival seats, private openings, and visits outside public hours at the sites that genuinely allow them.

Move

Drivers & Transfers

Chauffeured cars and vans across the island, meet and greet at Catania and Palermo, port and marina transfers, and the long east-west drives handled by people who know the roads. See executive transportation.

Stay

Villas & Hotels

Hotel suites and private villas, with the household staffed, the house opened and the fridge filled before anyone lands. Search and contracting handled where the property is not chosen yet.

Guide

Guides & Interpreters

Archaeologists, sommeliers, ceramicists and city guides matched to the guest rather than assigned from a rota, plus interpreters where the week involves more than sightseeing.

Sea

Boats & Islands

Day boats, tenders, crewed legs to the Aeolian and Egadi islands and the crossings from Milazzo and Trapani, arranged around the weather rather than the brochure.

Protect

Close Protection

Discreet officers through licensed local partners, coordinated by the same team that holds the reservations. More on close protection.

Across the Island

Concierge in Sicily, city by city.

Sicily is not one destination. The east and the west run on different rhythms, different airports and different seasons, and a coordinator who is genuinely useful in Taormina in August is not automatically useful in Palermo in March. What follows is what a concierge actually delivers in each place, in the register that matters: a table, a transfer, a tender, a ticket, an introduction.

01 —

Taormina & Giardini Naxos

Taormina in season is a reservation problem before it is anything else. Corso Umberto fills, the terrace tables with the theatre view are held months out, and the beach clubs below Isola Bella work on names. We hold the tables, put a car and driver on your diary rather than on a shared schedule, take the Teatro Antico concert seats when the programme is published, and run the transfers down to Mazzaro and Giardini Naxos so nobody loses an evening to parking. Villas above the town are staffed and provisioned before arrival, and where a principal wants the week to stay quiet, protection moves on the same schedule instead of being briefed separately.

Hidden Sicily
02 —

Palermo

Palermo rewards someone who knows which door. We arrange the Arab-Norman sites and the Palatine Chapel at hours the coaches do not keep, tables in Mondello and the old city, market mornings at Ballaro and Capo alongside a chef rather than inside a crowd, and appointments with the antiquarians, jewellers and tailors who do not keep shop hours. Punta Raisi arrivals are met and driven in, the Teatro Massimo season is booked the week it opens, and the western circuit of Monreale, Cefalu, Segesta and the Trapani salt pans is planned as one considered day rather than three half-days lost to driving.

Plan a Palermo stay
03 —

Syracuse & Ortigia

Ortigia is small, which makes it easy to visit and hard to do well: the good tables face the water and are taken by people who live there, and the Neapolis archaeological park is punishing at midday and superb at eight in the morning. We book the early entry, arrange seats for the classical season at the Greek theatre in May and June, and put a boat on the water for the sea caves around the island instead of the tour that leaves at a fixed hour. Cars are useless inside the old town, so drivers are positioned at the bridges and luggage moves separately. For longer stays, a housekeeper and a cook are attached to the apartment or palazzo.

Enquire
04 —

Noto & the Val di Noto

The far south-east is where Sicily has quietly moved upmarket: Noto, Modica, Ragusa Ibla and Scicli in golden stone, a UNESCO listing across the valley, and the Vendicari coast twenty minutes away. It is also where a great many of the island’s private weddings are now held. We take the villa or masseria and the staff who run it, the celebrant and civil paperwork through local providers, the chocolate houses of Modica, the almond and olive estates, and the transfers between towns that look close on a map and are not. Dinner tables in Noto in August are taken well before August, and we say so early rather than late.

Destination weddings
05 —

Catania & Etna

Catania is the arrival point for most of the east and a serious city in its own right: the Pescheria fish market at dawn, baroque built in black lava, and a food culture that does not perform for visitors. Etna sits above all of it. We arrange private tastings at the Nerello estates on the north face, lunch among the vines, guided ascents with authorised volcanological guides to whatever altitude conditions allow on the day, and the vehicle legs above the cable car. Arrivals at Fontanarossa are met and driven, luggage handled, and where a guest combines business in Catania with family time afterwards the two halves are planned as one week rather than two bookings.

Enquire
06 —

The Aeolian & Egadi Islands

Lipari, Salina, Panarea, Stromboli and Filicudi run on hydrofoils, tenders and weather, and the difference between a good day and a wasted one is who is watching the forecast. We arrange the crossings from Milazzo and Messina, boats between the islands, the Stromboli evening ascent with authorised guides, tables on Panarea in the weeks it is full, and villas on Salina with a cook in the kitchen. On the western side, Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo are handled the same way out of Trapani and Marsala. Where a helicopter genuinely saves a day we arrange it and say so; where it does not, we say that too.

Villa Life

Staffing a private villa in Sicily

Kitchen

Private Chef & Cook

A cook for the family through the week, or a chef for the nights that matter, working the local markets rather than a supplier list. Dietary and family requirements are taken before arrival, not on the first morning.

House

Housekeeping & Butler

Daily housekeeping and laundry, butler service through the evenings, and a house manager where the property is large enough to need one running behind the scenes.

Family

Childcare & Tutors

Nannies and qualified childminders, supervision at the pool and the sea, and tutors or activity leaders for longer stays and multi-family houses.

Wheels

Drivers On Call

A driver attached to the house rather than booked trip by trip. It is the single change that makes a villa week feel effortless instead of negotiated.

Arrival

Provisioning & Set-up

The house opened, cooled, cleaned and stocked before you land. Where the property itself is still open, we also handle villas and property rental.

Quiet

Standing Villa Security

Overnight presence, gate and grounds cover and a discreet standing post at properties that want it, through licensed local partners and coordinated with the household rather than around it.

Yacht and shore concierge in Sicily.

We are not a charter marketplace and do not pretend to be. What we hold is the shore side, which is where most yacht weeks in Sicily are won or lost: berth liaison and agent coordination at Palermo and Marina Villa Igiea, Portorosa, Riposto and Marina di Ragusa, and at the Aeolian and Egadi anchorages; provisioning to the list the chef sends ashore; crew rotations and airport runs; laundry, medical and technical errands; and the tables, cars and guides that owners and charter guests want the moment they step off the tender.

Guests join and leave mid-itinerary, and we handle those arrivals and departures so the crew are not doing it between watches. Where a charter is genuinely the right answer for part of the trip, that sits on its own page.

Concierge with close protection, under one roof.

Sicily is a warm and straightforward island to travel in, and nothing on this page suggests otherwise. Protection here is a matter of discretion and logistics rather than risk: a public figure who would rather not be photographed at dinner, a family that wants the villa gate covered overnight, a principal moving between Palermo and Taormina on a tight diary, a jewellery or art movement that needs a second vehicle and a considered route.

Because the same team holds the reservations and the schedule, the officer knows about the change of plan at the same moment the driver does. Close protection in Europe starts from EUR 850 per officer per day, the market base, confirmed on enquiry after consultation. Delivery is through licensed local partners under Italian law, and the legal notice at the foot of this page sets out precisely what that means.

The Engagement

How we work

Step One

Enquiry

You write once, in whichever of our languages you prefer. We reply with questions rather than a brochure, because the useful answer depends on the dates, the party and what the week is genuinely for.

Step Two

The Brief

A short written brief covers arrival and departure, the house or hotel, the party, dietary and medical notes, and anything that must stay private. It is held under NDA from the first message onward.

Step Three

Proposal

One written proposal, with the arrangements and the costs set out line by line rather than a menu of options. Concierge work is quoted to the brief; we explain what moves the figure and never publish a price we cannot hold.

Step Four

On-island Lead

One named coordinator resident in Sicily owns the week and stays reachable throughout, with the wider team behind them. Nothing is re-explained to a call centre in another time zone.

Timing

Response Times

We ask for at least seven days. That is the honest lead time for vetting the brief, assigning the right officer and doing the advance work. Under 48 hours is an urgency case: additional fees, and no guarantee. Peak weeks in Taormina, Noto and the Aeolians are planned months ahead, so the earlier the brief the stronger the result.

Beyond

The Rest of Italy

The same brief extends across concierge in Italy and onward without re-briefing, and clients weighing houses can read how Algoz compares.

Good to Know

Luxury Concierge in Sicily - Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have French, Spanish and Russian speaking concierge staff in Sicily?

Yes. Italian and English are standard, and we staff French, Spanish and Russian coordinators on the island rather than routing calls to another country. Tell us the languages and the dates at enquiry and we confirm what is covered before you commit. If a language cannot be staffed on your exact dates we say so and propose a dedicated interpreter instead of improvising.

What does a private concierge in Sicily actually arrange?

Restaurant and venue reservations, chauffeured transport and airport meet and greet, villa or hotel booking with the household staffed, private guides and interpreters, seats for the theatre and festival seasons, boats and island crossings, medical and legal introductions, and discreet close protection where it is wanted. One coordinator holds all of it, so nothing is handed between suppliers.

Can you staff a private villa in Taormina or Noto?

Yes. Private chef or family cook, housekeeping, butler service, a house manager on larger properties, drivers attached to the house, childcare, provisioning and the full arrival set-up before you land. Standing overnight security is arranged through licensed local partners where a property needs it. If the villa itself is not chosen yet, we handle the search and the contracting as well.

Do you cover Palermo and western Sicily as well as the east?

Yes, and both halves are run by the same team. Palermo, Mondello, Monreale, Cefalu, Trapani, Marsala, Segesta and the Egadi islands in the west; Taormina, Catania, Etna, Syracuse, Ortigia, Noto and the Val di Noto in the east; the Aeolian islands off the north coast. Cross-island days are planned as one journey rather than a series of separate bookings.

Can concierge and personal security be arranged together?

Yes, and it is the normal way we work. The coordinator holding your reservations and the protection detail sit in the same team, so a change of plan reaches the officer at the same moment it reaches the driver. Close protection in Europe starts from EUR 850 per officer per day, the market base, confirmed on enquiry after consultation. Delivery is through licensed local partners under Italian law.

Do you support yacht guests arriving in Palermo or the Aeolian islands?

Yes. We work the shore side: berth and agent liaison at Palermo, Marina Villa Igiea, Portorosa, Riposto and Marina di Ragusa, provisioning to the list the chef sends ashore, crew and guest transfers, airport runs for people joining or leaving mid-itinerary, laundry and technical errands, and the tables, cars and guides ashore. Charter itself is arranged separately when that is what is wanted.

How far in advance should we book for August and the Taormina season?

Earlier than most people expect. August in Taormina, Panarea and Noto is planned months ahead, and the terrace tables, the better villas and the drivers with real local knowledge go first. We will always tell you honestly what is still open on your dates and what is not, rather than accepting a brief we cannot deliver well.

Are you available year-round, or only in summer?

Year-round. The island is at its best in spring and early autumn, and winter in Palermo, Catania and the Val di Noto is quiet, mild by European standards and considerably easier to arrange. Our coordinators are resident in Sicily rather than seasonal, so a February brief is handled exactly the way an August one is.

How much does a private concierge in Sicily cost?

Engagements are quoted individually against the brief: the length of the stay, the size of the party, how much of the week is staffed and how much is simply arranged once. We explain what moves the figure before you commit and never quote a number we cannot hold. Where protection is included, close protection starts from EUR 850 per officer per day, the market base. Our concierge cost guide sets out the full picture.

Which airports and ports do you use for arrivals in Sicily?

Catania Fontanarossa for the east, Palermo Punta Raisi for the west, Comiso for the far south-east and Trapani for the west coast and the Egadi. Private arrivals and helicopter transfers run through the relevant handling agents. By sea we cover the Palermo and Messina terminals, Milazzo for the Aeolian crossings, and the marinas along both coasts.

Do you work with executive assistants and family offices?

Constantly. Most Sicily briefs reach us from assistants, chiefs of staff and family offices rather than from the principal directly. We work at their cadence: one written brief, structured confirmations, a single named coordinator to contact, and full confidentiality under NDA from the first message.

Can you arrange a wedding or a private celebration in Sicily?

Yes. Noto, the Val di Noto, Taormina and the Etna estates carry a great many private weddings each season. We coordinate the venue or villa, the household staff, transport for guests across the island, accommodation for the party, and the civil paperwork through local providers, with security kept discreet where the guest list calls for it.

Do you arrange private access to Etna wine estates and cultural sites?

Yes. Private tastings and vineyard lunches at the Etna estates, guided ascents with authorised volcanological guides, early or after-hours access at archaeological sites where the site genuinely permits it, and visits to the ceramic ateliers and craft workshops that keep no public hours. Access runs through the people who hold these places, so we tell you in advance what is realistic on your dates.

Discreet, Integrated, Trusted

Executive concierge in Sicily with protection woven in.

Assistants, chiefs of staff and family offices arranging a principal’s stay work with one team that handles access, reservations, transport and security together - not a switchboard of separate vendors. Brief us once; we anticipate the rest.

Access is real and discretion is absolute: NDA-backed, OPSEC-aware planning, low-profile delivery, multilingual operatives, and protection that integrates so naturally it is never intrusive. It is why UHNWI and HNWI clients, royal households and the advisors who serve them treat Algoz as a trustworthy single point of contact in Sicily.
