Bodyguard in Tenerife

Quiet protection for the Atlantic escape.
Europe’s winter refuge

Safe island, private stay.

Tenerife concentrates a very particular clientele: wintering HNWI families in the Duque and Abama estates, yacht owners on passage across the Atlantic, and recognisable principals who come precisely because the island lets them live unnoticed. The island is genuinely safe; the work is keeping it genuinely private.

From the resort corridor of Costa Adeje to cliff villas, marinas and the crowds of the Santa Cruz Carnival, Algoz coordinates protection that preserves the holiday: present where it matters, invisible everywhere else, and integrated with our Tenerife concierge programme.

Spanish Licensing (Ley 5/2014)

Why protection in Tenerife must be licensed.

The Canary Islands are Spain, and Spanish law applies in full: private security is governed by Ley 5/2014 de Seguridad Privada, and a personal protection officer (escolta privado) must hold the official professional card (TIP) issued by the Ministry of the Interior. Armed escort is permitted only for accredited escoltas under strict conditions and is uncommon for private clients.

Algoz coordinates protection in Tenerife exclusively through this licensed framework, with every operative TIP-accredited, NDA-bound and discreet. See how our close protection works, add island concierge and secure transport, or extend across the Canary Islands and Marbella.

Indicative Investment

What protection in Tenerife costs.

As a guide, professional close protection in Spain is, in 2026, typically USD 550–850 per day for a single principal on twelve-hour cover, with the final rate confirmed on enquiry and no obligation. Specialist profiles, armed or armoured requirements, short-notice mobilisation and Carnival or peak winter season carry a premium. Read our full close protection pricing guide, how a security driver works, and how modern close protection is run.

Protecting celebrities & public figures

Actors, musicians, athletes, royals and the people the world recognises — celebrity protection is its own discipline: anti-paparazzi strategy, leak-proof operations, crowd and stalker management, and details that switch from red carpet to invisible in the same day.

Good to Know

Bodyguard in Tenerife: Frequently Asked Questions

Why use Algoz rather than hiring a local security agency in Tenerife directly?

Because vetting an unknown local agency yourself is where the real risk lies. Standards, licensing and discipline vary widely between firms, and a principal cannot tell a properly licensed, reliable operator from an underqualified one until something goes wrong in the field. Algoz knows the Canary Islands market: we have already worked with these providers, vetted them and kept only the best. Engage us and we select the right team for your profile, brief them under NDA and supervise them closely against our own standard throughout, so you gain genuine local knowledge and full licensing without gambling on an untested agency. One accountable point of contact owns the outcome.

Is it legal to hire a bodyguard in Tenerife?

Yes. The Canary Islands are Spanish territory, so Ley 5/2014 de Seguridad Privada applies: a personal protection officer (escolta privado) must hold the official TIP card from the Ministry of the Interior. Algoz coordinates only accredited Spanish escoltas, under NDA.

Do you protect wintering families staying for the whole season?

Yes. Long-stay residential protection is a core part of our Tenerife work: villa coverage, school runs, secure driving and a consistent team a family knows by name, from November through the spring.

Do you cover the resort areas and villas of Costa Adeje and Abama?

Yes. We provide residential and resort protection across Costa Adeje, Playa del Duque, Abama, Guia de Isora and the wider island, including access control and overnight presence.

Can you coordinate yacht and marina security?

Yes. For owners berthed at Santa Cruz or the southern marinas, and for Atlantic-crossing stopovers, we manage marina access, tender operations and crew liaison alongside land-based protection.

Can you provide protection during the Santa Cruz Carnival?

Yes. Carnival is the island’s densest fortnight: we plan routes around closures, hold private balconies and gala seating, and run low-profile details that let principals enjoy crowds of half a million at ease. Carnival dates require early notice.

Are your operatives licensed in Spain?

Yes. All operational execution is carried out by partners holding the required Spanish private-security licensing, fluent in English and Spanish with further languages on request.

Can the client choose the bodyguard they prefer?

In many cases, yes. Given sufficient notice, and provided the request can be accommodated without compromising safety, the client may select the profile of the operative, and in most engagements is offered this choice. It cannot, however, override our professional security assessment, which always takes precedence.
