India — the palace circuit of Rajasthan
Nowhere else does hotel-keeping reach this register. The Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, Umaid Bhawan Palace above Jodhpur and the Taj Lake Palace floating on Lake Pichola in Udaipur remain working palaces as much as hotels, and the right suite in the right season is a negotiation we handle early. Beyond the cities we arrange the Aman-i-Khas tier of tented camps at the edge of Ranthambore for tiger safaris, private viewings of the Amber Fort before the crowds, and the winter run of festivals and weddings that fills the state’s calendars. The commercial and political capitals run on different clocks, and we keep both. In Mumbai: suites at the Taj Mahal Palace above the Gateway of India, boardroom schedules in Bandra Kurla Complex, film-industry engagements and evenings on Marine Drive, with close protection in Mumbai arranged for principals whose profile requires it. In New Delhi: the hotels of Lutyens’ Delhi, protocol-sensitive movements around the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri, and protective drivers and officers in New Delhi for executive and family visits. Sri Lanka — south coast villas & tea country
An island that fits an entire continent’s variety into a week. On the south coast we take villas and suites from Galle to Tangalle, with the ramparts of Galle Fort, Amangalla within its walls and Amanwella on its private crescent of sand anchoring the coast’s quiet end; whale watching runs out of Mirissa and leopards hold the interior at Yala. Up in the highlands, the tea country around Nuwara Eliya and Ella still moves at plantation pace: estate bungalows among the Ceylon tea terraces, the celebrated hill railway from Kandy taken in private comfort, and mornings that begin above the clouds.

Kathmandu is the antechamber: the stupa at Boudhanath at dawn, the carved courtyards of the Durbar Squares, and heritage houses such as Dwarika’s that keep the valley’s craftsmanship alive. The mountains are the point. We arrange the lodge circuits of the Annapurna and Everest foothills, where a walking day ends in a hot shower and a proper cellar rather than a tent, helicopter transfers that turn a week’s trek into a long weekend, and the scenic mountain flights past Everest for those short on time. Guides, porters, permits and medical contingencies are planned before you land, not after.
Bhutan — the guided kingdom
Bhutan admits its visitors deliberately. Travel runs on the kingdom’s own terms: a licensed Bhutanese guide accompanies every journey, the government’s Sustainable Development Fee applies to each night, and the reward is a country that has kept what everywhere else has sold. We plan the full circuit: the climb to Paro Taktsang, the Tiger’s Nest monastery on its cliff; Punakha Dzong at the meeting of two rivers; audiences with astrologers and archers in Thimphu; and the spring and autumn tsechu festivals when the dzongs fill with masked dances. Lodge circuits at the Amankora and Six Senses level, and the famous mountain approach into Paro, are timed and booked well ahead, because Bhutan rewards nothing so much as early planning.
